Ah, thanks for all of your advice! You will be pleased to know that I now have it all working... The heatsink wasnt sitting properly on the CPU, and I used some heat gel/paste stuff as well. It said I didnt need it when first applying the heatsink so i didnt bother... OK, so its not working...
