    8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

Good call on the CPU series. IIRC, the 20 lanes in question come directly from the CPU? The 5700G in my HTPC definitely only does PCIe 3.0

I agree with the rest, but this isn't entirely true. B550's have a limited number of PCIe 4 lanes; enough for a x16 link and and for an NVME drive.

    8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

What? I rather liked my 7600. It was a good bang-for-the-buck mid-range GPU. Oh, wait... You meant the RX 7600 and not the 7600 GT :p

    8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

I never go to TPU, and I was surprised at the amount of kool-aid being consumed over there. So many posters in that comments thread sounded like outright shills.

    8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

My kiddo is still using my old RX580 8GB, and it holds up surprisingly well outside of recent AAA games. The 4GB model would have been shelved ages ago. I was using more VRAM than that when i bought the card with texture packs and whatnot.

Question Can you recommend a tube of around 2 ounces of heatsink compound?

This is the biggest reason, IMO. Technology isn't sitting still, and that includes thermal compound tech.

    8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

If you're going so far as all that, why not just add another ram socket on the card or motherboard for additional vram? It would be worlds faster for both reads and writes, both in bandwidth and latency. Edit: I was thinking user-upgradable. If you're thinking soldered on, I could see that...

Question Whats enough Graphics card for 1440p on a 27 inch monitor?

Thanks for posting this. I'd been casually looking for a 1440p monitor, and at $149 (on sale) I figured there's no harm in grabbing a S2725DS. If I don't like it much, it'll get handed down or act as a backup. Sure, it's only 100Hz (variable), and it's basically budget business class, but I'm...

    Question https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/86879.pdf

I've definitely been known to buy expensive tools for one job (when am I going to use that framing nailer again?). In this situation, though, I'd probably go ghetto and try an Altoids tin and hot glue. It should give pretty good heat dissipation, but electrical isolation might be...

    Question https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/86879.pdf

Looking at someone else's mod. I'm guessing that cooling the case will have little effect. I can't tell, but it doesn't seem like the chips inside are thermally coupled to the case: https://www.john-am.com/2011/01/modding-a-hauppauge-wintv-hvr-950q-with-heatsinks/

Discussion Ryzen 9000X3D series review thread

This was the area I saw the most improvement in gaming when I upgraded from a 5600X to a 5800X3D last year. Went from 100%cpu usage and ~45-50 fps to 90% and a capped 60fps solid. I was definitely CPU bottlenecked pretty hard with a 7800XT.

What size is it? You might be able to find a heatsink designed for NVME drives that would fit

Somebody on reddit said it feels like waiting for a biopsy result. The next response was "yeah, and half your family is hoping it's cancer!"

The Roseanne defense, huh? I've never taken Ambien (assuming that's what it was), but I'm guessing it's like alcohol in that it loosens inhibitions, but doesn't in itself make you a bigot/racist/what-have-you.
