It does sound like memory. If you have two sticks take one out and try it, if it still fails take that one out and put the first one in and give it a go. If you only have 1 stick you'll have to find a replacement, maybe from another PC you have? Good luck!

Something else you could try is toasting the HDD and reinstalling everything. That way you at least rule out software. I don't think I saw that suggestion on here yet. Otherwise definately get a refund on the Alienware or at least make them replace the computer. I wouldn't buy a Dell desktop...

I've used a magnetic screwdriver almost exclusively for 10+ years and I've never had a problem with any component whatsover. Just don't leave them lying around by hard drives and such.
