    Question Speculation: RDNA3 + CDNA2 Architectures Thread

I can't see that happening. The 7900XT is already not selling at 899$, they would have to drop it to at least 849$ to make it a viable option. The full N32 would have to be at <749$. It just seems too cut down to me that I don't see how it would be anywhere close to the 7900XT unless it clocks...

    Question Speculation: RDNA3 + CDNA2 Architectures Thread

Of course they will say it's a 4080 competitor. If they said it was a 4090 competitor, then we'll "probably" say they've failed.

Excel speed test comparison against an FX-8350

I'm at work and the i5-2400 3.1Ghz at work did one iteration in 43.81s.

    is fx 4100 worth it!!??

I don't really see the point of an FX-4100 or even 4170. I'd rather just get a Trinity APU for the same price even though the IGP would be disabled.

    is this upgrade worth it?

Maybe you should dust the fan off or take out the fan and replace the paste. I see no real reason to throw away your 4850 just for D3 because it is making your PC shutting down because of heat. I'm playing D3 on my 4870 stock at 1920x1200 maxed out so your 4850 should be similar as well. I dust...

    Trinity review

I don't think that it is a fair review for Piledriver modules. They are comparing a desktop CPU with a laptop CPU. Trinity firstly include a GPU which eats a fair share of memory bandwidth and second I think its memory controller isn't running at the speeds of those on desktop CPUs to save power...

Llano's Turbo Core is far from useless. It is not the Turbo that existed in Thuban but the improved version similar to the one in BD. In purely single threaded apps, Llano is in turbo state more than 50% of the time.

    Trinity review

You cannot use boost clocks to get IPC. Nor can you use single-threaded performance to get the actual IPC just because turbo is "screwing" your results. The only way to get a clear picture of Trinity's IPC improvements is to use a multithreaded application that loads all cores and compare it to...

Well looking at how a 7770/7750 is only about 110mm^2 big, using something around 640 shaders in the next generation is feasible in terms of die size for AMD. The question still remains to see how low the clocks needs to be reduced in order to keep power consumption down. I'd say a 500Mhz 640SP...

Something is bugging me from Trinity. Where is the quad core 17w version?

If an i3 + GT540m barely consumes any more power then why would manufacturers bundle it with the bigger and heavier 90W adapter? I'm not saying that a dead silent laptop is an achievement, I'm just saying that a laptop with a discrete GPU is just overall more noisy and heavier.

    Trinity review

I own both an i3 and a Llano laptop, and I can't tell the difference in everyday usage. I can only see a difference when a program with something like a timer is used such as encoding videos. My i3 is about 15% faster in multithreaded. However, the HD3000 is just horrible for games while Llano...

    Trinity review

The A10 is scoring over 8k in Cinebench R10 and over 2800 in 3DMark06 CPU, i3 scores the same. Yes, the A10 loses in single-threaded but at least it now catches the i3 in multithreaded while destroying it in iGPU within the same power envelope. Also, I saw an A8 laptop for 500$ 3 months after...

The new power efficient A10 is now within mobile i3 performance territory. And I would think that the standard version of the A10 will be close to mobile i5. Then I wouldn't call that a CPU with "hugely lower performance". If Trinity can follow Llano with its prices in current laptops, I would...
