Helping a friend with an iPad Gen3... this one can connect perfectly to 5GHz but not so on 2.4GHz. Looking deeper into the problems shows that the output power on the iPad seems very low i.e. if the iPad is put on top of the router it will connect, but loose connection if removed say 2-3 feet...
