Not true. FCC regulations prevent your cable company from modifying the local feeds in any way. It is the same feed you get via an antenna. If your company is really lowering the quality, call up the FCC and bust their asses.

Better performance with heavy network loads such as bittorret, other p2p apps. You also get a lot more features like QOS, the ability to run a wifi hotspot, logging, advanced networking features. Basically you are running linux on it so the possibilities are endless. Not for the networking noob...
Better deal is the Buffalo WHR-G54S. Also linux hackable, $40 free shipping, and from what I've read has better wireless range than the linksys...
