I had the same problem with my system. It had to do with having a large hard drive. Microsoft released a patch for Windows 7. I'm not sure where the patch is now, but if you install Windows 7 SP1, it includes it by default, so I'd recommend installing that if you haven't already.

I saw one of the new MSI motherboards on newegg tonight, but it's sold out already.

Last I checked, they had increased the 2500k price by $20, but that may change once the motherboards are here.

Quad cores should be good for a few years at least. I think that as generic multithreaded applications become more commonplace (meaning the program will use as many cores as it has available), we'll have a real need for more cores. Until that time arrives, having more cores than 4 doesn't...
