    VISTA network and internet connection

The "network setup wizard" pic you posted is NOT a network setup wizard. XP's is located in the control panel and allows you to change settings. Vista's is just a pretty button that does everything on it's own. And as far as ISP's loging devices... I am on that PC right now... I can...

    VISTA network and internet connection

elevated operations eh? Doesn't change my point. If hitting OK on a UAC is deemed secure, why can't clicking on *.exe be secure? Do I really think that some malicious hack/prog. inelligent enough to screw with my pc is going to be side tracked by a UAC? Come-on even I can run a script to...

    VISTA network and internet connection

First off, what is with all the popups? If clicking the OK button on a popup is proof that I want to perform an action, why the !@#$ wasn't it proof enough the first effing time I clicked? If the OK button is secure why can't the rest of the GUI options be secure? </rant> Ok, I am not...

    Vista DRT (Demo Readiness Toolkit)

I figure maybe I should try VISTA. <side note>I just fixed this laptop which spent a month or two in China, using a free always-on wifi connection WITH NO ANTIVIRUS. This dude's laptop was so screwed! The viruses had his cpu hitting 70-85% idle! I stopped counting at virus #13... AVG...

New build - 1 good beep but no video

Had the same thing happen to me before. Just had to flash the bios (needed support for g3 stepping or something). While none of this applies to you, 1...i concur that it is probably the motherboard 2...before you trash the mobo, try flashing the bios.

    Seems like random PC freezing

Have you checked your HD for bad sectors? I had a similar problem with not coming out of hibernation/sleep b/c of bad sectors on my HD. So, I backed up my data, Re-partitioned my HD around the bad sectors, And Re-installed my OS. As far as the POST problem, it could just be that your MBR is...

How to best partition for my uses?

True-dat ...... partitioning is something I am quite familiar with. This is what I reccomend: C: WindowsXP (for everyday use) -primary partition D: WindowsXP (clean install, for emergencies) -primary partition X: Data (storage, backups, etc..) -primary partition Y: Logical...

OK, What RAM to get for $100

any benefit from a 4x1gb setup would be imperceptible. But it would drain more juice from your psu and put more stress on your mobo, and leave no room for upgrading. 2x2gb is a no-bainer. because you don't have untied OC-ing wrt the FSB? Consider this...

    Should I upgrade my PC?

Totally, totally wrong. You're recommending a socket AM2 board, while he has 939. Not to mention that any current vidcard will do HD acceleration. yup you're right. Didn't even think. My bad.

    drive loses power after POST

Hmm... Sounds like a windows Driver issue, not a bios issue. I would suggest updating the drivers, but I am sure you have already done that. ..Sorry I couldn't help more
