I had the opportunity to play Batman AA on both an SLI 8800GT and an ATI 5870. My computer is about 3 years old (Core2 Duo 8400 3.0 Ghz not overclocked)
I played the first half with the Physx:
The paper stuff is cool. You walk everywhere and paper flaps around. There are piles of paper...
Yeah I think you are right. I guess I didn't give my 8800GT's enough credit. I had no idea they were faster than a GTX285 at my LCD's native rez. I suppose I'll take what improvements I can get for now and wait patiently for my tax return to finish building my new rig.
Also thanks for the...
Wow I have your exact setup, except I was running 2x8800GT's in SLI. Same Mobo - check my thread above for the benchmark numbers I ran:

BIOS was flashed and reset to defaults already (in an attempt to get the slow POST fixed)
All drivers were removed from the NVidia cards before I ever put the ATI card in. ATI is running the current Vista/Win7 driver which is 8.66RC (the only one availble for DL on their site)
This MB has...
According to the manual this MB was designed to run dual PCIE at 16x for a pair of Nvidia cards. The manual doesn't specifically say PCIE 1.x or 2.0 but it does meet the speed requirements.
After flashing the bios it apparently dropped my clock multipler to 6x instead of 9x so I was able to...
This isn't slow boot, it's slow POST. Literally 1 minute, it hits the CD drive 8 times, then you finally see the POST screen with HD, memory, CPU, etc. After that Windows boot is fine.
**Edit - fixed scores after finding an issue with my multipler after flashing BIOS
I got an XFX 5870 arrived in the mail yesterday, and replaced the pair of 8800GT's I had running SLI in my current rig. Ran some benchmarks and it's either slower, the same, or just meh. I was not expecting...
When I flashed, it found a card and flashed, then it said it found a card again and I told it to flash. There wasn't really any way to know if it flashed one twice or did both. I'll try pulling them and reflashing to see if that helps.
So I'm building my new system and my 2nd 8800GT SSC from EVGA comes in. Hook them up, install the drivers and it pretty much works on the first try. Then I find out that EVGA has a new BIOS that improves fan speeds and some other fixes, so I flash the cards. This is where the problems start...
I'm tired of rigging things up. I had a home-made custom case before, I even carved "EVIL" into the top and shined a spotlight through it. Took days to dremel all of that through the cheap steel case. Then I cut a window in the side and never finished actually installing the acrylic because...
awesome - thanks for the input. I can't test this until Friday when I get more time.
Why do these forums show only 3 days? I don't want this thread to drop off before I have time to read it in front of my comp?
I just built my new rig, and because of the Tuniq 120's enormous size I had to take out 2 side case fans that used to blow onto the PCI cards. I'm looking for something to exhaust the air out a PCI slot where all that video card heat is generated. My 8800GT's are blazing hot and have to be...
Just to put in an update, my second 8800GT SSC came in today so I did a quick install just to see what would happen. I didn't have time to adjust any of the voltages, etc because of wife/kids/life.
My current setup:
e6850@3300Mhz (9 x 366, 1.30V)
G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2-800 CAS4...
I have all of my components in:
Intel Core2 Duo E6850, stock 9 x 333
G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2-800 CAS4 F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ
ASUS P5N32E-SLI Plus MB
Tuniq 120 Air cooler with the blue lighted fan
2xeVGA 8800GT SSC factory clocked at 700MHz in SLI
Now that I have everything hooked up at stock, I...
