    Mysterious Speaker...Mystery

I moved the speakers out of my room...and around my entire house, and the problem persists! My neighbour is also having this problem with her speakers...I actually ordered some cheap ferrite beads so let's see if that fixes the problem.

    Mysterious Speaker...Mystery

I will try moving the speakers, I suspected outside interference... Thanks for your help! Also, thank you elmer92413 for the link on ferrite beads, it was a very interesting read and if moving the speakers doesn't work, I will try that!

    Mysterious Speaker...Mystery

Dear forum members, I have a mystery for you (okay, I need help and I'm dressing it up a little...)! I recently started hearing crackling noises from my Altec Lansing 5.1 USB speakers. Since they were USB, they didn't have to use onboard sound. I replaced these USB speakers with a...

Do I need a sound card for USB Speakers?

Hi all, I have the Altex Lansing FX5051 5.1 USB Speakers, which I use currently for my laptop. But I'm building a new desktop computer, and wondering if I should buy a soundcard other than the onboard audio so that computer games will recognize the 5.1 system. Will it make any difference in...

How to install a simple WD Raptor 74 GB SATA Drive with Windows XP

Hi all, I have a WD 10,000 RPM 74 GB SATA Hard drive, a Windows XP Home CD, and an Asus P4S800D motherboard. I simply want to install windows on the disk. I put the disk in the CD rom drive, boot the computer, and eventually after trying to install windows I get this message: " Setup did not...

    Going to college

Wow. Thanks for all of the input. I guess I'm convinced now that I should separate the Laptop and Desktop system - I think I won't even have to buy all new parts for the desktop, just a motherboard/processor/ram set (already have an Audigy 2ZS, Raptor 74GB HD, 9800 Pro which is quite sufficient...

    Going to college

Thanks for all the input! About the gaming issue - I will only be playing games on AC power, and the games I'm mainly interested in are RPGs that generally don't have insane system requirements like the new FPS's, that sort of thing. I will definitely not be buying a 2k laptop, 1,300 is probably...

    Going to college

So yeah, going to college next year and am going to replace my desktop with just a laptop that I'll use in the dorm too. I won't have much time for gaming, but it is possible that I will play games like Guild Wars and maybe Splinter Cell occassionally. So I was wondering, what should I order on...

    GPU Overheating

I don't think that my card supports temp, as neither RivaTuner or AtiTool read temperatures. I defragged my hard drive yesterday to no avail. However, when using AtiTool, it said Core: 378, when I raised the core using the tool slowly, at around 395 the computer experienced the same crashing...

    GPU Overheating

I reproduced the problem today, except this time in a room about 7 degrees F cooler. It took about 1.5 hrs of running the game for the computer to freeze in the same manner. The video card's fan is running. Immediately after shutdown I touched the back of the video card - it was hot to the...

    GPU Overheating

Antec TrueBlue 480W Yep! Downloaded it, ran 2 full passes, took about 40 minutes, came out with 0 errors. Aaaah! No apparent solution.

    GPU Overheating

I downloaded Everest - what an awesome program! It appears the Temp2 is actually the CPU, as you said. My GPU driver is indeed the latest. Any suggestions as to why this might be occurring? I've had GW for a year now and the problem only started up a week ago or so.

    GPU Overheating

*This is a repost, as it is now in the correct forum. So recently while playing the fabulous Guild Wars, I have started crashing often, from 5 minutes to 60 minutes in the game. I suspect that something is heating up, as I have tried running the game on either of my two hard drives and they...
