Thanks for replying phoenix. The cyborg rumble is a nice budget model, but I think im gonna go with the evo FF. The X52 is nice but too pricey, and the lcd on the rudder is a bit grand (bangles and baubles) and it doesnt have ff. As for usb/non usb is there any significant differences?

the retention base is pre installed, I have noticed in the list of package contents in accessories a 'retention bracket', I thought this was attached to the heatsink, that must be the retention lock, which means im short of a component, which means I may have very well killed my 3500+ by trying...
