Are PIII and PII CPU's still in demand ?

if P3 and P2's were in demand I would be rich, I have a stack of old hardware.

    Upgrade an E8600 @ 4.1GHz to Quad core (non-gamer)

This could be somthing as simple as a driver issue.

Motherboards that can reach 5 GHz

exactly what I was thinking. 5gig would kill your chip fast. And what do you want to do with it once you have a 5gig pc?

    Quad-core or Dual-core ? Which one do I pick ?

Is there actually a list anywhere of what games support how many cores? Thats would be useful to know, I personally suspect that not many fully support quad cores.

6 core AMD on Desktop Preview

he, thought games were only just catching up with quad cores

Why there aint multi CPU mobos?

A lot of people would disagree with that. no use having a blazing fast CPU(s) if it cant get data to/from RAM fast enough.

I dont think you will be dissapointed with that setup, especially that ram ;)

    Data corruption from overclocking?

isn?t this all down to the definition of "stable" if your pc does a 48+ hour burn in test using the recognised utilities then surly its stable, overclocked or otherwise?

Overclock has never been "stable" under stress tests, but why should I care?

I think the stress tests prove if its a fully working OC or not. I have often wonderd myself though as at the end of the day stress test utilities are uually artificial and dont represent real world load.

What is the best cpu for video editing?

TBH I'm using adobe premier on a Q6600 OC'ed to 3.2gig and 1333 bus and I'm quite suprised with the results. Spose it depends on the type of videos yoru making though.

    Advice for a new card...

was just thinking the same! he could get another 200-300 mhz out that CPU without even trying. its criminal to have a Q6600 and OC it even a little bit!

    Low Cost Gaming System

good call, my bro built a similar system and managed to overclock it slightly, but he wasnt really trying TBH. I was quite impressesd with it.

Peer to peer network, MS-DOS application

hmmmm, why not use virtual PC with an MS DOS disk image. you wont have to worry about windows compatability issues (as you effectivly running the apps on a complete DOS OS) but you will need to get the apps working with the virtual network adapter virtual PC uses.

Lot's of new chips from AMD this week

6 cores - nice - would like to try one of them. shame more apps and games dont support that many
