They still have the best box out there. But as you say the business side has been a mess since the start with the original management and being tied in with the screwy Quirky business model. If they'd opened things up early on to developers and included some advanced mode/roll your own...

Wink has been acquired by lifestyle technology company i.am+. https://techcrunch.com/2017/07/27/i-am-buys-wink-the-smart-home-hub-previously-owned-by-flextronics/

Haven't had any issues with the Trippers either. They've worked well for me overall. Notifications from them and other sensors can be real slow at times but they still trigger whatever fairly quickly so I put that on Wink at a higher level. I'd agree re the slow progress. Not much...

Yeah on the beta side I guess we see more activity. I'd have to agree though that overall progress is incremental at best and Indy's criticisms re where this train is headed are valid. I've been kind of disappointed from the start with how not open they've been on the development side, new...

I'm more of a sensor/schedule/robot guy myself. The only time that I'm pushing buttons is to handle exceptions. Even with the limited sensors in Wink, I don't think that I've manually turned on/off anything for weeks or more. That said, the Echo is very well done for on-demand...

Haven't seen the NULL thing myself. I did lose some of my Link lights with the latest version of the hub. Actually, it was a little more complicated than that. The update blew away my hub (same apparently for others) when it didn't complete successfully and I had to recreate everything...

I need to send a note about some other things through the beta group. I'll add generic Zigbee sensor to the list. I'm nobody so won't make any difference on that basis but if they hear it from enough of us maybe it will. The scheduling side also is something that I think that they need to...

I believe that he probably was talking about the sensors which are Zigbee. The catch re Wink is that there's no selection provided for the Iris specifically or for a generic Zigbee sensor when adding devices as there is for Z-wave sensors. The only Zigbee door sensor being the Trippers. I...

Usually it's pretty good. It's not absolutely instant, but only a second or so delay most of the time. With a typical entry door sensor you don't really notice it much. By the time that you have the door open and closed, it's usually turned on whatever and alerted my phone. Where I do notice...

Right. You have the radio in the Wink hub. It would be in lieu of. I know some here have complained about ST not supporting Lutron. Don't know whether that's a better way to go vs Wink for that purpose. It does appear to work locally.

BTW, since I know that there are some Lutron fans here, Amazon Warehouse has a bunch of open-box Lutron Caseta bridges currently available at $47. About half off the normal price: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00L5NUT16/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used I'm not real...

I think that will be true kind of by definition since battery-powered Z-wave/Zigbee devices typically don't act as repeaters.

Haven't had any problems with mine other than activation of whatever can be slow at times. That's not on the sensor itself though and same applies to the Trippers. You can see that the sensors detect open/close immediately, but the overall system of...

Echo does require an Internet connection in order to operate; otherwise, the light spins and spins and then finally comes back with the "bloop" tone saying that it has no connection. Won't do anything beyond that. Assuming that it does have a connection, then the activation is very quick...

Yeah, no shortcuts, robots, sensor triggers, locks, etc. Not really what I'd call full local control but better than nothing. Everybody is on the same 2.49.0 hub version now I think so we can talk about it at least. I was wanting to tell you guys not to get too excited over the local control...
