actually that is both true and untrue.
it is not only about a digital 0 being at digital 0 when it gets to the other end of the cable, and a digital 1 being a digital 1 ----
there's the matter of jitter - if you had a 1 MHz stream of data, you'd have 1 bit being delivered every 1/1,000,000...
