I installed 2 temporary 80mm fans on a bracket above the card, and then enabled write caching. They are running at full speed and are connected directly to the PSU. The card's temperature is around 70C, although I can try to rearrange the fans to try to get even more airflow. I still get...
I ordered 2 Noctua 80mm fans, which will be put side by side, cooling both the raid card and the GPU. I bought some narrow metal mending plates and machine screws, which I will be using to build a custom fan bracket with vibration dampening.
My 4U rackmount case uses x6 Noctua Redux fans, an Asus GTX780, and a Cooler Master Nepton 120xl liquid cpu cooler. My Seagate Barracudas will eventually be set up to spin down/sleep after an x amount of minutes. Will that star-tech.com fan be loud for my setup? Almost all of my components were...
You might have possibly found the cause of my system's instability- heat. While searching the internet for a fan, the controller's temperature is at 86C right now. Adaptec Storage Manager still claims it as "normal". I'll buy a fan and see how it will run then.
If I upgraded at the same time to...
When I ran crystaldiskmark on the SSDs, the temp of the controller was 80C (normal).
I got:
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1076.461 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 321.784 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 141.144 MB/s [ 34459.0 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) ...
What specs should I look for in a replacement card? What should I avoid in a replacement card? Any brands to avoid? Can I go for OEM Dell, HP, etc? Which cards have quicker startup times? I am looking to find a decent new/used card for under $200.
Thanks
The stripe size was 256 (the default). I don't think there was a cluster size setting in the raid card bios, but if it were, it would be the default. I will try using the drives in different configurations.
The graphics card is in slot #1
Slot #2 is covered up by the GPU
Slot #3 is unused
The RAID controller is in slot #4. It is the only x16 slot available once one GPU is installed.
I have the SCSI card in slot 5
I have a SIIG Texas Instruments firewire card in slot #6.
The entire system was built...
The only thing I found describing any kind of connections is the diagram on this page:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/990fx-motherboard-review-amd-fx,3464.html
It also looks like the problem isn't tied to one SSD, any one of the SSDs can go into rebuild.
Where do I find this information? I checked the Asus website, the BIOS, and the owner's manual, and I cannot find anything saying what is connected to what.
The manual has a PCIE operating modes table:
Single PCIe card: (slot1 x16 Recommended for single) (Slot2 x4) (Slot3 x16) (Slot4 x4)
Dual...
