that's odd then. wouldn't that mean that I can potentially have conflict with an adjacent PC with the same keyboard set? If he presses "connect" and I press MY mouse' conenct button, do I hook up to his?

You should try to use the software that came with the Bluetooth adapater. It's usually a CD with a program called BlueSoleil.
