Im thinking on buying a 4870 x2 video card, but im not sure if the card is too much for my ds3l motherboard, being that its a pcie 1.1 as opposed to 2.0. In the mobo i have a q9450 with 4 gigs or ram. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Dont really want to upgrade my motherboard...
Hey Shadow! Thanks for your response. Ive actually been reading about the sensors being inaccurate on these 9450's. Im debating whether to go to fry's and exchange it and try my luck. Im going to try Noctua's thermal paste just for kicks to see what it does to my temps.
Yeah its tight. ATM the highest one of the cores get is 60 after 15mins of prime95 with my Noctua and 1 fan. This is at stock speeds. Im going to mount my second 120 noctua fan to see if it helps. Thanks for responding mate.
Hey everyone. Today I got my Q9450 and i put it in my DS3L (Rev 2.0) mobo to test it out and my temps seem abnormally high when idle'd. My buddy gets better temps with his Q6600 with a below average asus HS/F. This is all out of the case and on a test bed setup.

Thaks for the reply. I actually have a ds3l mobo that im trying to RMA at the moment (bad support). I even have G.Skill memory :). Do you know how much power you're drawing? Ive gone through several scenarios in my head. Ive actually considered putting my 1950 pro vid card in along with my ds3l...

Well I can tell you my experience with the board has been mixed. I can OC a E2180 to 3Ghz which is great, but the ds3l has problems retaining bios settings. Ill successfully boot with my OC settings, but the next day after booting again the bios settings are set to default. A quick google will...
