Windows 7 - Build 7601 copy not genuine - Windows must be restored

Windows 7 has had a mind of its own recently. I had set the updates to download but to not update. Of course it seems it is determined to update without my input at all, so when I put the computer into sleep mode I woke up this morning to find the computer on and it sitting at the login screen...

That setting isn't anywhere on the menu.

    Lg 27mp33hq 27"

I'm trying to turn off the auto-dimming for my monitor. See here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025041 The driver CD it came with won't even read (it spins around and stops--and yes, I have double-checked by reading with other CDs to ensure that the optical drive...

    New rig won't post

Greetings, I recently built a new computer and I am having trouble having it post. When flipping the PSU on, the CPU overvoltage jumper light on the motherboard (Asus Z97) turns green. The CPU is a i7-4790K. The PSU is an EVGA 850 B2. I have moved the jumper to pins 2-3 and the light still...

HP Envy 15 Notebook PC phantom CPU usage

Greetings, I bought an HP Envy touchscreen notebook back in late November. I haven't really noticed, however, until mid March that if the computer idles for about five minutes, without fail, the system takes up 18% of CPU usage and holds there until I bring it out of its idle state by moving...

    Momentary freezing with Firefox

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I'm using Windows 7, I have not installed anything recently. Also this problem persists for all browsers. Also I'm just noticing that the problem doesn't seem to be limited to what browser I'm using, but I'm also getting momentary freezes when just browsing around the...

    Momentary freezing with Firefox

I booted up my computer this morning and I've been experiencing momentary freezing in Firefox ever since. Every time I move the mouse around, open up a new link, etc., it happens randomly, but everything freezes for a split second and then continues like normal. This is persistent and continues...

Windows 7 login taking atrociously long after recent java update

Instead I decided to just use the slave drive in the mean time. And obviously since I'm posting here, you can probably guess something went wrong. Everything went fine for a day. Then it locked up. I restarted the computer. There was no "hanging" at the Windows start up--it acted completely...

Windows 7 login taking atrociously long after recent java update

Pretty much described what I've been going through the last few weeks. Sometimes I wish you'd just get the click of death outright because at least then you know 100% what the problem is. Anyway, I managed to finally get into safe mode (I stepped away for 20 minutes hoping it would freeze and...

Windows 7 login taking atrociously long after recent java update

No, I wrote the command prompt in full. I just then went ahead and typed each one individually. Anyway, we're back to square one again. When it happened for a third time I realized there was a pattern to getting safe mode to work (because it would always freeze and hang at classpnp.sys...

Windows 7 login taking atrociously long after recent java update

I will never understand the voodoo magic that is computer hardware... I got into safemode with the command prompt. I ran chkdsk and got the following (with /x): The type of file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive. Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process...

Windows 7 login taking atrociously long after recent java update

I'm not one for violence, but I wouldn't mind if the person responsible for rootkits/bootkits was flayed alive a thousand times until the end of time. So we're back to square one again. I'm guessing the rootkit is actually on another one of my hard drives (I have a slave and an external...

Document files appearing blank when they aren't

I did when trying to open them up on a laptop, but I only tried to open up two documents before realizing I should probably stop because, as you said, it seemed to be "blanking" them. Why would all of these files I never touched with OpenOffice be acting like this?

Document files appearing blank when they aren't

The templates are different. Normal-looking documents are under a "Normal.dotm" template, while the ones that are wonky are under "Normal.dot". It also lists the origin of program name as "Microsoft Word 9.0" instead of "Microsoft Office Word".

Document files appearing blank when they aren't

Nope. Nothing. Nope. Saved it as an .rtf file. I opened it up and it showed up with every page full of underlines. I should also note that it seems completely random as to which files appear blank and which do not. Some .doc files open just fine. At first I thought it had to do with files...
