I know the page says you cannot use this as a desktop and that they don't support graphics cards, but from what I understand, this thing has PCI Express slots and I can get PCI Express Graphics Cards. Has Dell done something to disable this, do you think? Or do you think it's just an empty threat?
I've got the TV and I've had no problem with it. I used Video Essentials to do the adjustment and everything is just fine. The only thing that might become an issue is the fact that pictures will look stretched on non-anamorpic DVDs. This is because the black bars are actually encoded as part...
A friend of mine bought one of these and he was surprised to find that he didn't need a Macrovision stripper to get proper video out of it. Unfortunately, he had already bought one. No hacking or anything required, though.
Some guy on one of the Yahoo! Groups said he fed it 480p and it choked. This doesn't surprise me, as Akai says specifically, on their web page, which TVs are progressive. This one did not say progressive next to it.
That being said, however, I bought this TV and I think it's phenomenal...
Something must be up with this. I tried doing an in-store pickup order from 2 different stores near me and the orders were both cancelled within 10 minutes of being submitted. BB definitely has some kind of deal going with this, but it's also obvious that they're dead set on thwarting all of...
Agreed, not hot. If you check the resolution, you'll notice it's 852x480. Not enough to display even 1080i, as you'd need at least 540 lines (and certainly not 720p or 1080p). If you look at the better plasma sets, you'll notice resolutions of 1280x768, which is high enough to do even 720p...
According to Buffalo Tech's website, they don't make any CAS2 memory, only 2.5, so I still think the Dane-Elec is a better deal. I hope when I get it that it really works stably at 2.
I thought this was a pretty decent price. Newegg has Dane-Elec 256MB CAS2 PC2100 memory for $39 with $5 shipping. This was the best price I could find on CAS2. Looks like it uses Nanya chips, from the pictures at Newegg. All the reviews I've seen of DDR sticks with Nanya chips have been...
Funny, check out the page at BestBuy that gggonzalez linked to. Click on the link for "Angle View", funny how it makes it look like a Viewsonic, eh? :-)
I'd recommend staying away from that Jabra hands-free cell phone thing. I'm just about to head to the hospital after using that thing for one day. My ear is killing me!!! I tried the different size gels and everything, and the one I used was the closest for me. It's just not worth screwing...
BTW - Has anyone taken a look at the Rear Projection DLP sets? Pretty amazing if you ask me. I saw one at Tweeter the other day and the resolution and clarity was unbelievable (as was the price, $8k). Should be cheap enough eventually, though, given economies of scale, if people buy enough of...
