I have an IBM Thinkpad R40e and I am trying to figure out what motherboard comes with this to determine if I can upgrade my CPU. The CPU it comes with is the Celeron 2.2ghz. Any thoughts?

Yeah I definately play games. Half Life 2 and what not. So it would benefit from the 1GB of mixed RAM vs. 512MB of the DDR400?

I currently have an IDE ATA/100 hard drive but I want to make this the slave, and a new SATA/150 as my master. Since obviously the cabling is different, can I still have a SATA as my master and the old IDE drive as my slave?

My Abit KR7A is fried. I need a new Socket A motherboard. I game but I dont overclock. Dont want to spend more than $90. Any thoughts on the best one? Need one that is stable and EASY to get up and running.

The IDE cable isnt even connected anymore. The BIOS screen should show up without any drives connected. So as I said, I cant even get to a BIOS screen with just the above minimum components connected. I dont get it.

UPDATE: Ok, so I disconnected everything, removed the motherboard from the case, laid it on cardboard and ONLY connected the main power, video card, one DIMM memory, HSF, keyboard, and the power switch connector. Hit the power and the same thing happens. Fan goes on, all three LED's on the...

No other advice here guys? I'm wondering why the RED LED on the motherboard which is the reset LED is lit up fixed when i turn the power on. I'm guessing it shouldn't be.

UPDATE: If I pull the IDE ribbon from the hard drive and then power up, The HDD fires up. So without a ribbon connection the HDD responds, with the ribbon attachment, the HDD is dead when I boot up. Can anyone please help?

I just transplanted my computer into a new case and installed a new HSF. Installed my Abit KR7A into an Antec Sonata case. I thought I connected everything the way it was but when I press power, all the electronics fire up, fans, LED's, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM's etc... but the HDD doesnt do a thing...

I have an Abit KR7A motherboard. I'm curious what the most powerful CPU I can install in this is? The latest BIOS mentions it supports AMD XP 2100+ so am I to assume I can't install anything higher than this?

So I got one of these and the power supply in my box clearly is in the way of the clearance of the HSF. It would seem that ANY mid-tower case would have this problem with this HSF. Am I missing something?
