Help...I tried upgrading one of the cracking machine from dual Celeron to dual PIII but only 1 cpu was detected!

I think the MSI Master slockets have settings for dual Celeron (oldstyle Celerons) operation, but don't work in dual mode with Coppermine processors. Max

    rc5 in linux

You need to be logged in as root to change the rc.local file. Either a) logout and log back in as root or, b) use the su command to change to root so that you can read and write to the rc.local file. Max

For all of you "crack rackers" out there

So if I tell my S.O. that we just have to keep the "computer room" dark, with no lights, no TV, etc., I can probably put a 6- to 8-node system in there, no sweat! (It does have it's own circuit for the outlets, as nearly as I can tell by testing.) Heh heh, I wonder if she'll fall for...

For all of you "crack rackers" out there

How many "nodes" will the typical home/apartment wiring support per circuit? I'm thinking about getting in on the latest craze and putting together a crack rack, but am concerned that the wiring/breaker box might not be up to the task of handling any more than 6 nodes, for example...

    Another OGR Question

OK, here's what seemed to fix things. The problems started when I tried to set the client to flush and fetch to the RR proxies. It worked sporadically (but it DID work), but since I didn't have daily access to the machines I wanted something more bulletproof so I decided to go back to simply...

    OGR--Linux speed vs. NT speed

Thanks for the input, everybody! I'll give 462 a try when I get home this evening. MaxC

    Another OGR Question

I've noticed it happens most often on two WinNT machines that have to go through a proxy firewall. However, since they do work correctly some of the time, I would speculate that the client settings are correct. I've also seen it happen on a Linux box connected directly to the 'Net, so I don't...

    Another OGR Question

Frequently when I try to flush the buffer, I connect to a Dnet (or RR team TA) machine, but get a message that reads: FlushOGR::Unable to assert acknowledgment validity The client tries to flush a couple more times, sometimes actually sending a unit, sometimes not, but usually the above...

    OGR--Linux speed vs. NT speed

Lord D--I'm not sure how changing the nice level would affect things, as my Dnet client appears to already be getting all of my CPU's cycles! I have a feeling that, as Joe O said, the Linux client simply isn't optimized to the extent of the NT client. I'd hate to have to convert the box to NT...

    OGR--Linux speed vs. NT speed

Joe O -- I am using the latest client on both machines. bd -- top shows nothing else big running, and the Dnet client is getting all of the CPU cycles on the Linux box. I did a minimal Linux install, with basically only the networking packages and the programs needed for compiling new kernels...

    OGR--Linux speed vs. NT speed

I have two PCs with identical hardware, one running RH6.0 (with a 2.2.16 kernel), the other running WinNT Workstation 4 (SP6a). All the machines do 24x7 is crunch OGR data. It seems that the Linux box is only crunching about 4.67 Mnodes/s while the NT box is crunching about 6.3 Mnodes/sec. Is...
