Question AMD Ryzen 5000 - AVAILABILITY

Based on Zen 3 CCD reported die size of 11.27mm x 7.43mm, the gross die per wafer is about 740. This is gross die, before die yield. TSMC reported producing 12 million wafers in 2019. Of course TSMC has many process technologies older than 7nm still in production. Only a fraction of the total...

Any way to stop a forced reboot in win7?

How long is the count down? You should be able to abort using:shutdown -a If the count down is 1 minute, just set a scheduled task to run that every 30 seconds or something. Not pretty but it might work.

3TB WD Green drive suddently reading/writing super slow

Quality control on the multi-TB drives has gone severely downhill over the last few years. It would not surprise me one bit to encounter a failing/failed drive. You should probably try using the drive on at least one other computer and see if you have the same problems before you RMA it though.

Any software out there that can image a TrueCrypt disc?

I have successfully made backups of a TrueCrypt encrypted system drive using "dd" - the block copy utility found on unix-like systems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dd_(Unix) With dd, you can clone your TrueCrypt drive to another drive, or you could write the entire contents into a file...

Teflon tape for threaded water-cooling fittings?

The water-cooling fittings I am familiar with all have a rubber O-gasket that ensures the seal, so I don't believe teflon tape is necessary. I've been running a watercooled PC for 8 years without teflon tape and have had 0 leaks.

SSD Page File min max settings, what are yours and why?

With 24GB of RAM in my system, Windows defaults to creating a 36GB pagefile on my C: drive (SSD). I don't find that reasonable.

Do you still need an optical drive?

The optical drive on my main PC broke a few years ago and I haven't missed it. For OS installs, I exclusively use USB sticks. Microsoft offers a tool to convert your Windows DVD image to a bootable USB. For Linux, there are other free tools to convert images to bootable USB. For the other...
