What do you mean by accommodate a legacy receiver or amp? What would qualify as legacy? More specifically, what feature would an older receiver or amp lack that would necessitate the need for a more expensive player?
I want to buy a Blu-ray player for ~$300, what is the best one to get? It must also play regular DVDs, and preferably upsample them. I don't care about HD DVD. And what would it be lacking compared to the really expensive ones?
Also, I am in the market for a high quality (good LCD panel...
I got the NEC LCD2490WUXi monitor with the special SpectraView II software and calibrator.
There are several presets I can calibrate to, or I can specify my own calibration. The available presets are:

I know it's over my budget, and I am unhappy to pay this price, but it is the only LCD that suits my needs (wants) apparently.
Unfortunately, 26" is too large for me. Max size I can get is 24".
I've kind of increased my budget and am now looking at the NEC LCD2490WUXi-BK. Is it any good? I would assume yes, for the price...
Is it 10-bit or 8-bit? It has an H-IPS panel.
I can live with 60Hz. All I was saying, if there is anything better, I would love it.
So any suggestions? I really would like to order ASAP, and the number of choices is really making my head spin. I've been considering the HP LP2465:
