Well my initial K8NGM2-FID system is starting to "go south". It won't recognize the mouse or keyboard (tried new units and still no recognition). It's not a Windows problem because the bios doesn't see them on startup any longer. And, Yes, all my systems have UPS protection. I've been building...
The Foxconn 6150K8MD-8EKRSH is listed as using a Realtek 5.1 channel audio (per Foxconn's site). You're right - it does have a DVI connector, something that I didn't need on the system that the board went into. Also, for me anyway, Newegg didn't stock this board - and I'm to the point where I...
A couple pages back I listed a problem:
----------------------------------------
Two of my systems use K8NGM2-FID boards. One functions perfectly. The second board will not start on the first start, instead I get the "Reboot and select proper boot device, or insert proper media.... etc"...
Ooops, posted this on the main Forum topic area accidently:
Two of my systems use K8NGM2-FID boards. One functions perfectly. The second board will not start on the first start, instead I get the "Reboot and select proper boot device, or insert proper media.... etc" message.
I have all...

I have all bios settings set the same on each board. I've swapped C: drives - yet the second board...
I just put together a system based on this board and I'm impressed as to how well it performs. The CPU is a 3500 Venice, along with 2 sticks of Corsair Vaue Select 400 DDR. The reason for the choice of this board was that almost all my other systems are Vencie based AMD 64 bits, except for 3...
I have to second alex123's suggestion...In the past couple weeks I've added two MSI K8NGM@-FID based systems to my "fleet"; with a third board on the way. If you are into heavy gaming you'll need to add a gamming video card; BUT, if routine playing/computing is your norm then use the on-board...
Medicalmess:
I have two MSI K8NGM2-FID's and also was worried about the Chip temp. An easy and inexpensive solution is to add a 40mm fan to the heatsink and drop the temps substantially, which should decrease the chance of failure considerably. The fans that I am using on both of these...
OK..Downloaded the new bios and read the ridiculous "How to Flash the BIOS.doc" that's included with the bios download . This description is so far out of date it's patently stupid. I would venture to say that very few people have Windows 98 or ME systems setting around - I have 13 systems on my...
Found it, thanks!!T
This thread for the motherboard is absolutely invaluable!!!!
Pity the poor user who tries to find it on the MSI USA site alone!! He (or she) seems plain SOL....
Another little annoyance: it appears that you can't use live update3 with FireFox as your browser. One of...
What is the secret to finding the newest bios on the MSI website. The download page doesn't list it; even typing "K8NGM2-FID bios" in their search engine turns up a comment "Product does not exist!!!
Has MSI given up on the board already - or is their webmaster just lame?
Actually, I feel the northbridge heatsink is much looser than it should be. I popped the cooler off on one of my K8NGM2-FID boards and found that there is a "stand off" material that holds the heatsink up slightly. By removing this material, and applying a thin layer of Artic Silver 5, I note...
Have you run Memtest86 on your memory? How old is the 80 gig drive (which is your C: drive I would assume).
Blue sceening while booting typically isn't a heat problem - BUT - You might try putting a small fan on the northbridge - or remove the case cover and place a table top fan blowing...
ajemm:
From your description, you don't have a hardware problem with the motherboard. Connecting to the internet through the router is a much less strenuous duty for the motherboard as compared to running full speed through the router to the other systems on your network.
There could be any...

During the period when the system won't connect to the internet (or gets dropped), can you still scan shared files on the other systems on your network? In other words, is the networking function stopping totally on your board? If it is, then I'd RMA it to the vendor or MSI.
