Not worried about the antenna; I just want the bluetooth added for my wireless earbuds. Many of the 2-terminal wi-fi cards come with bluetooth, or so they advertise. Not sure how that works. I'll look at the wire routes. Not that many combos to try anyway. Thanks.
Thanks for the info. If I go with a 2-terminal card which of the 3 wires do I use? Or do I just rotate through the possible combos and see what happens:eek:
I want to add a bt card to my Dell laptop. I have not been able to find one. I keep finding wi-fi cards that bundle bt and wi-fi but they only have 2 terminal connections and my current wi-fi card has 3. Anyone seen such an animal?
Below is my current wi-fi card.
I'm guessing the wire or switch is bad. I start the boot process by shorting the jumper with a screwdriver. With the switch disconnected everything seems to work fine. Well, almost everything. The system runs fine but there is an alarm going off. I have not found the cause yet. All temps...
Update: I think I've isolated the problem. The power switch or the wire connecting it to the mobo is probably bad. Secondarily, the mobo header could be bad. Anyway, I have it all back together except that wire and all is well. When I plug that wire in it does the random rebooting before...
Thanks for the replys.
It's not overheating because rebooting often happens in just a couple of seconds. I've had the CPU and NB heatsinks in place for a couple of years with no problem. I monitor CPU and case temps and they have always been cool (<120F).
I have looked the MB over and...

It seemingly started rebooting out of the blue. It never gets far enough to begin loading the OS. It seldom gets far enough to enter the BIOS. Often it stops after only a couple of seconds. The CPU, north bridge, and graphics card fans spin up normally...
OK, I reverted back to the default server settings eliminating AVG. I can download and send mail now. So having Thunderbird configured to check incoming mail for viri with AVG was the problem. That's strange because I've been using AVG and these settings for a couple of years with no problem...

I don't know if they replaced any servers. Lightening struck their transmission tower. I can ask.

I can ping their mail server: mail.xxx.net. I do not know who owns it. Their website address is www.xxx.net. The xxx is the same for both.
My small local wireless ISP had weather related problems the other day. When they came back online Firefox worked fine but Thunderbird failed to work. I've changed nothing with either application. The ISP tech support was less than helpful.
Can someone help me help them? What could...
Thanks. I've been doing these same tasks manually using notepad. Saving a text file with the url and description of the download. Filenote saves me a step. Not a lot, but something.

Thanks for the testimony Justin. Good point about the virii and school networks. I knew that those networks were a hotbed of such problems but just hadn't thought of it in that light. Good point. Are there no Mac virii. I guess the cost difference is the biggest stumblin block with the...
