I bet the personal computer industry will be dead by that date, if they don't find some technology to motivate the push for more power.

I remember playing the Demo of BF2142 in 2006, with a GeFo 6600 and an AthlonXP 2400+, from 2002. It took 25 minutes to build the shaders cache. Nowadays a 5 years old CPU is still worth a bunch of money on the secondary market.
