Best Buy has the Compaq 725US for $1399-300 in rebates=$1099+tax

Appears the deal isn't avaiable in-store. In the BB weekly circular this model is listed as $1599 - $100 instant rebate - $100 Compaq rebate = $1399. If you could also get the $200 rebate on the BB website to go that would knock it down to $1199. So you could get the $1099 price by ordering...

    Lite-On 8x4x32 CDRW Can be flashed to 12x w/burnproof 99$

Sontag: It's pretty easy to see if the drive is creating uncorrectable errors. Just burn a large file (around 600 megs) to a standard data CD. After the burn is complete copy the file back to your hard drive and use the DOS command FC (type "FC /?" at a DOS prompt for usage...

    Lite-On 8x4x32 CDRW Can be flashed to 12x w/burnproof 99$

Re: Firmware "Upgrades" For the last year or two I've owned the Imation 4x4x20 (which is really a Ricoh MP7040). Anyhow, shortly after buying it I flashed it into the Ricoh MP7060, which let me burn CDs at 6x. Of the hundreds of CDs I've burned at 6x I've never had any problems...

Pioneer DVD Player DV525 less than 1/2 price, free shipping

A decent deal. Not quite as good as the $125 (after Value Dollars) I picked my DV525 up for at Value America last year, though.

Portable MP3-ROM Audio Player/CD-ROM Audio Player For only $99.

I've had this player for a few weeks now. It comes in an unbranded (but still colorful) box containing the player, an AC adapter, earbuds, and some documentation. As far as sound quality goes I'd have to say it's a notch down from my old Panasonic Portable CD player, but is still pretty good...

    Problem installing DVD-ROM drive

Tried booting my system with a Trident PCI video card instead of the 3dfx one and I'm still getting the blue screen so it's not the video card....This basically leaves the other hard drives, motherboard, RAM, and floppy drive as possibly conflicting devices, which just doesn't make sense to me...

    Problem installing DVD-ROM drive

Just tried a few more things, but still can't get into Windows with the DVD drive connected. So far I've: -Tried removing the cable connecting the DVD drive to the soundcard. -Tried removing most of my cards from the MB: Booting with only the 2 HDs, 1 floppy drive, a 3dfx V3-3000 AGP video...

    Problem installing DVD-ROM drive

I just got an IDE DVD-ROM drive (a Toshiba SD-M1102 to be more specific) and I'm trying to install it on my computer (Win 98, Pentium 2, Abit BH6 MB, 2 Maxtor HDs on Primary IDE, 1 CDRW on Secondary IDE). I first tried setting the DVD drive to slave and installing it on my secondary IDE cable...

Is BMG and columbiahouse.com are good deals

I did the BMG deal several times a little over a year ago. It was a pretty good deal when I did it and (assuming they haven't changed it around since then) it works out to be about $5 or $6 per CD after shipping. An even better BMG deal involved referring your friends once you were a member...
