PC won't shut down, won't wake from sleep - I'm stumped!

I think I didn't word it properly - it did not actually boot but upon pressing power button mobo must still be getting some current for a split second as the fans do a "little spin" and perhaps that's when the settings get messed up. At least that's my guess :)

PC won't shut down, won't wake from sleep - I'm stumped!

Hey ketchup! I was actually able to replicate the issue. It occurs(at least in my case) when you press the power button with the 4pin cpu cable unplugged. After the cmos fix I had to unplug it to be able to put the storage hdd in and forgot to plug it back in. Lo and behold - no wake from sleep...

PC won't shut down, won't wake from sleep - I'm stumped!

Hi folks, My old q6600 workhorse started crashing of late so I decided to finally lay it to rest and use an i5 HP Pro tower I had lying around. Bought a new Evga PSU, more ram and moved the gfx card and SSD from the old machine to the HP. Installed win7 - all is well except the damned thing...

    Decent mobo for i5-4690k

Thanks for your input guys. Good point about the mATX, I shall look at those as I will never use 2 gfx cards. As for Z97 Extreme 4 sure it looks a nice mobo but it really pushes the budget, with VAT and delivery it comes to £120 :/

    Decent mobo for i5-4690k

Thanks Ken, I think I'll go with it as noone is suggesting anything else. I was a bit unsure because when building my last PC Asrock was cosidered a "poor man's Asus" which kinda implied lack of quality, but apparently that's not the case anymore.

    Decent mobo for i5-4690k

Hi guys, Title says it all really, I need decent a mobo for an i5-4690k that I plan on buying as my old system seems to be on it's last legs. I will definitely overclock at some point but at the same time I will not be trying to squeeze every last Mhz out of it and I'm not a gamer either...

    Graphics problems after win reinstall

Actually this machine runs quite cool, that's why very hot NB struck me as something out of norm. Look man, I may come off as a total newb but I've been building and OCing PCs for years, there's no need to post pictures of PSUs, although I appreciate your effort. As for I mean, really? :D

    Graphics problems after win reinstall

Right, I've stripped the whole thing down, cleaned and re-built it - for nothing :/ I've noticed some anomalies while stripping it down though - one of the wires from the cpu-power bunch is badly damaged(almost cut - not sure how that happened) and the radiator on the northbridge is VERY hot. I...

    Graphics problems after win reinstall

Quick update: different video cable + ubuntu - problem persists. Tomorrow I'm taking it apart and re-installing the OS one last time, if nothing changes then it's gonna receive a hammer treatment and I'll buy a new one.

    Graphics problems after win reinstall

Hi Steltek, thanks for your input. I'm gonna try and swap the video cable today(as I only brought another monitor, not thinking about the cable), and then play with different OS.

    Graphics problems after win reinstall

Hey all, thanks for your responses. Inachu - I did not install the OEM driver, I've always used latest Catalyst with that card and never had any issues with it, I don't think its factory overclocked anyway. Also, when I swapped this card for the HD 4550 nothing's changed. Ketchup - I've...

    Graphics problems after win reinstall

Hi guys, I have a weird problem that I've never encountered before and I've exhausted all troubleshooting options I could think of so I came here to ask for your help. Long story short - I reinstalled Win7 pro(64) the other day, as I do every few months to "refresh" things, nothing new - done...
