    Asus A8V Deluxe vs. MSI K8N Neo2

    I went with the K8N. :)

How do I know if my memory is working in Dual Channel mode?

You can doublecheck by using CPU-Z program I believe. Search google for the link, I'm too lazy...haha :) Edit: Ok I felt guilty... Go Here.

    Bad timing....

You see, with me...back in the Fall of 2001, I upgraded from an AMD K6-450 to an AMD T-Bird 1.4 GHz. With that upgrade, I bought 256 MB of DDR RAM and an Asus A7A266 motherboard. It's actually still a nice system 3.something years later. However, now that Half-Life 2 has arrived among other...

    Bad timing....

I completely agree with this statement. I would MUCH rather buy a board that's pretty new, but not the newest of the new. I want something that's been thru the gauntlet of users, been tweaked and fixed both hardware-wise and software-wise. It's like buying a first generation car. I drive a...

    Dual-Layer Standard May Disappear Soon

They fit sufficiently on single layers WITH the extras (a 1:1 copy essentially)? If I ummmm...BACK UP...my movie collection, I'd want everything fit on the disc, not just the movie. Ian

    Dual-Layer Standard May Disappear Soon

It's not that I'm exactly waiting for HD or BR burners, it's simply not in my budget ($500 going to other various parts right now) and when I AM ready for a DL burner, maybe more media will be out and cheaper for those times where I need/want dual-layer media. Ian

Check out this config for me...

Thanks for the comments. I want to get the 90nm 3200+ ($193 on Monarch) as opposed to the retail version at $238. The heatsink/fan is $25. Do you guys see a performance increase using a single SATA hard drive then instead of RAID? I've seen benchmarks for RAID and it just doesn't seem...

Check out this config for me...

Hey all, I've narrowed it down to a point I'll post some specs to see what you guys think (mainly for parts compatibility reasons). I have a set budget so this is going to have to work. MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum AMD64 3200+ 90nm 1 GB Corsair ValueSelect Thermaltake A1883 Heatsink/Fan...

    Dual-Layer Standard May Disappear Soon

Which is why I'm waiting for a burner. If the media were out I'd get it, but hell, no media means no drive for me. I'll spend my upgrade dollars elsewhere for the time being. Ian

Corsair ValueSelect vs. Corsair XMS Extreme

Hmmm...ok thanks for the clarifications. I can see I have a lot to learn regarding that stuff...but it's good to know there's experts out there that know what they're doing and can explain things in an easy-to-understand manner! Ian

Corsair ValueSelect vs. Corsair XMS Extreme

Thank you for the fast response. I've seen many folks state that same thing you just did...I'm probably gonna stick w/ the Value Select as recommended. Quick question though, what exactly is a divider? Sorry for the lame question but I know nothing about overclocking, although would like to...

Corsair ValueSelect vs. Corsair XMS Extreme

Hey all, I'm reconfiguring my upgrade parts and this is what I have so far: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo AMD64 3200+ 90nm I'm looking for some RAM. I've found the Corsair Value Select 1GB dual channel pack to be a nice price for what's being rated as great memory. I've also stumbled upon...

Athlon 64 3200+ OEM or Retail

Anyone want to comment on their upgrades to the K8N and the 3200+? I too was once looking 3500 but if I can save $100 and go w/ a 3200 for a very minimum performance difference, I would do it. I may even overclock to 2.2 or so for the hell of it to make me feel better about the loss of 200...

    90nm Processors: 3200+ and 3500+

*bump* Any other benefits here? I'm actually in that dilemma now myself. I won't be afraid to upgrade down the line to a new CPU if they get cheaper, as long as I'm in the "platform" so to speak, being upgraded to the 939. Ian
