Question Need help finding a safe, non-burning, non-exploding UPS, and one that is not from Cyberpower brand?

I had the same problem with my Cyberpower, ended up chucking it. The 5SC1500 (sinewave model) is a much nicer unit, but rather loud even without load. Shame they try to charge $200 for replacement batteries...

Looking for HDR-capable monitor resolution <4k...

Looking up on it the absolute latest OLEDs are probably less spotty...but I've been very unimpressed with every phone OLED I've had (my Note 4 can't even display pure white evenly! that's not acceptable for photoshop work!) although the contrast has been good. My biggest beef with OLED is the...

Looking for HDR-capable monitor resolution <4k...

Only OLED truly meets hdr spec but oled sucks donkey balls. Guess I need to wait on that Panasonic high contrast ips tech. ...or for OLED to be cheap enough to compensate for the horrible uneven pixel aging.

Looking for HDR-capable monitor resolution <4k...

found Eizo Unveils ColorEdge Prominence Monitor With Full HDR, DCI-4K but resolution is pointlessly high...sigh. I hope they make a 2k ver... no higher than 100PPI

System freezes for ~1 second and makes a buzzing noise

Sounds like DPC latency. Use a program to check it. Disabling C1E/EIST helps a lot with it, but chances are you'll still see flair ups especially if you have a driver issue. Neither of my Skylake pcs could fix that issue - and the laptop won't even let me disable C1E/EIST at all. BIOS updates...

Looking for HDR-capable monitor resolution <4k...

As topic implies, F 4k. I can't afford topend dual gpus every few years, and almost all the HDR monitors I see are 4k (and/or not yet on the market!). Upcoming monitor models are fine, I'm not likely going to order for 6 months anyway. Specs I seek: -HDR support in games (afaik only a couple...

Why are gaming laptops still so damn ugly?

I would prefer a laptop that looks and feels like a brick that coincidently happens to fit on your lap. 10 lbs of battery, 10 lbs of gaming power, and no stupid gimmick copyrights relating to meaningless things like "sleek" or "pretty". There is literally zero excuse for all modern laptops...

Bizarre laptop behavior requiring reboot to fix.

ASUS support replied, but basically ignored the corruption and focused on the reboot thing. Their reply was wrong - it's not Intel MEI, it's the bios that caused the reboots. (Legacy + on battery = reboot, UEFI + battery = no reboot) I had tried both *.1181 (Windows Update) and *.1184 (ASUS...

Bizarre laptop behavior requiring reboot to fix.

I've had 3 different BIOS, and ASUS live update apparently pulled the last one without my permission. Maybe there was an issue flashing and that caused it? dunno. While I'd generally agree it's the same OS and 8/10 drivers should generally be compatible, the pointer driver does not work and...

Bizarre laptop behavior requiring reboot to fix.

Older W10 build. whatever was before Anniversary/2016 LTSB. Current install only installed ATK, waiting to see how it behaves. Most of the rest is from Windows Update. I've already seen some minor graphic glitch when booting and before I installed drivers/activated/rebooted start menu items...

Bizarre laptop behavior requiring reboot to fix.

The original hard drive took years to boot etc... only booted once to activate the W10 license. I had/have anniversary/2016 installed which is basically the same build, which is not what it shipped with. It's possible it's an Anniversary-specific compatibility issue. ASUS gonna pull the...

Bizarre laptop behavior requiring reboot to fix.

Unfortunately this rebooting on wake seems to be a common issue with the Intel wifi cards asus installs on their G series - their forums are plagued with it. After reading ASSUS horror stories and having my own as well, I'm hesitant to spend a fortune on shipping to have THEM damage it or send...

Bizarre laptop behavior requiring reboot to fix.

Trying to figure out what the problem is, since ASUS rma is known to suck and may result in no fix/worse computer. Ever since I got this G752VM it has done weird things. (but no bsod's or memory dumps) At first: waking it on battery would make it shut off or reboot instead. (FIX: disable...
