This is the first weekend I really had a chance to sit down and troubleshoot my thermal issues. There are only three fan connectors on the motherboard, 1 3-pin connection for outlet fan, 1 3-pin connection for inlet fan, and 1 4-pin connection for the active thermal management fan.
In my...
Thanks for the replies. The CPU fan is connected to the motherboard. It does spin higher (up to 670 - 750 RPM) when I run the freeware stress test byPassMark that came with the motherboard.
Pkrush, I was really interested in building a smaller, quieter box than my last two system builds. I...
I have a an Intel® Desktop Board DQ965CO (it's a MicroBTX board) BIOS version 5150 with an E6400 Core 2 Duo processor and mushkin eXtreme Performance 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory. I am not overclocking (Intel BIOS is pretty barebones). Here are the pertinent cooling...
I spoke too soon...I can load the initial 80801R drivers using F6. Setup then recognizes that I have a hard drive <hooray>. After I format the hard drive, when setup is inspecting the hard drive it asks for the disk labeled "Intel Application Accelerator Driver" and then instructs me to press...
I took the plunge and bought a USB floppy drive. I changed a few USB settings in the BIOS and it worked just fine. Loaded the serial ATA RAID drivers and have loaded XP Pro.
The title says it all. I need to hit F6 and install some SATA and RAID drivers during an installation of XP Pro. I don't have a floppy drive and I would prefer not to install one in this computer (only 1 external 3.5" slot and I would rather install a card reader or more USB/Firewire ports)...
I personally love my old XP 1800+ system that has been rock solid for well over 3 years. It saddens me that AMD hasn't caught up in the rendering dept. as I am cheap and Intel always seems overpriced.
My wife's DELL Dimension 8200 finally died. She does a lot of video editing using Adobe Premiere on WinXP Pro. I keep reading that Intel still leads when it comes to rendering but am not sure how the far from top of the line processors stack up. I am tyrying to put together a replacement...
Just received my replacement XFX 6600GT AGP 128MB DDR 3. The GPU core temp is 61^C idle. I haven't put it through any tests yet, but it is a full 20^C cooler out of the box than the first one I received. I'll post again after I install some games to give it a workout.
Thanks for the responses. I apologize for not mentioning this in my original post. These will be individual computers at restaurants across east texas and louisiana. Each computer will connect with its own dial-up account (without a router). Basically the only reason for the internet access...
My friend asked me if it was possible to set up a computer with an internet connection, but only for email use. In other words he wants to be able to send email, but he wants to cut off all internet surfing capabilities (to prevent employees from bumping around on the web all day (or after...
I just returned a new XFX 6600gt AGP to newegg.com as well. When playing games the video feed would shut off and I would have to reboot. I downloaded a graphics stress test shareware program (i think called passmark). I ran the simple 3d graphics test and the gpu core temp shot up to over...
Your right, there is a $2 price difference at newegg for the 2.8C. That is a definite upgrade. Will the 2.8E work in this motherboard? The memory has a CAS latency of 3, but that particular kingston memory is cheap and has been approved by ASUS for what it's worth...
Thanks for the advice.
He wants to use his twin 21" trinitron CRTs for the time being (until he can afford some LCDs)...Most of the workstation cards I looked at come with two dvi outputs or one analog one dvi so he'll have to get some dvi-analog dongles. This is what I put together at newegg.com for $1030 +...
