i do this often but my memory usage.... in performance saying i'm using 1 gig or whatever, doesn't match my processes when added up, when i tack up high, i usually can't account for about 400 or so meg of mem usage...

how do i chk for a memory leak?

thanks fellows i'll try that out, don't know of anything specific.... i've got kazaa on here but, don't think the time frames match to when the prob started...

i built a computer about 8 months ago, P4 2.4, gigabyte mobo, 1gig, kingston PC2100 ram, has ran like a dream for a long time, i started learning about overclocking a few months back and have since then turned my fsb up a few cautious notches, the computer has run even better, no heat problems...

the bkt is a P4 heatsink bkt... plastic- rectangular, with 4 prongs, one on each corner, attached to the motherboard by 4 plastic snap on pins, one of the side prongs broke off.... i'll go through and try some of your ideas... thanks, bl

i pulled the I/O plate off with no new results.... anything else????

Started having an overheat problem in a 3month old computer that i built... on inspection i found that one of the ears on the motherboard bkt that holds the processors heatsink down had broken off. I took the motherboard out, repaired the bkt, and put the computer back together.... and now when...
