Nope, the 4060 still sucks. I deal w/ them on a daily basis for PacBell DSL. If there is such thing as a win-dslmodem, this would be it. I would request a switch for an ethernet modem.

Neat trick... Boot to a 98 startup disk and fdisk /mbr.

The boot menu should point to root c:\ drive for normal windows already, when 98se is loaded it will place its files back there and when you reset the boot loader it will be looking in the correct place by default. I may have to go home tonite and load up my back up hd and give this little idea...

When using Direct Cable Connection.. you need a special data transfer cable, one that reverses the send and recv pins at each end. I dont know of anyway for DCC to work from COM -> LPT.

I had a similar problem.. I found out that pci slots 3 and 5 shared irqs and etc. I shifted the cards around: modem in slot 5, live in slot 4 and nic in slot 3... everything works great now.
