    MATX A64 Nforce4 board

I have the TXP2675WH. Small TV to go into my dorm room at college. And I not going to be doing any major gaming on it. Just some simple emulation (N64, PSX, SNES) and watching anime and movies that I've encoded to 720P AVC.

    HDTV on an ATI x800xl?

usually then they are just video converted to xvid format from HDTV sources. plus the resolution is then downconverted to dvd resolution. so of course the wmv video files will look better, they are "true" HDTV resolutions.

    MATX A64 Nforce4 board

that's a cool board. will it work good for a HTPC? I'm not going to be doing any hardcore gaming on it (just PS1 and N64 emulation) and it will be used for watching some 1080i HD-MPEG2 and 720p AVC video. EDIT: I would have least thought this board (MSI RS480M2-IL) would come with DVI-I...

    MATX A64 Nforce4 board

can anybody recommend a good board that will fit into an Antec Aria? I've seached both newegg and ZZF but their search engine come up pretty iffy when u start getting specific. I plan to couple the board with an A64 Venice core 3200+.

    Is ATI clutching at straws?

Wouldn't the purpose of hyping H.264 acceleration in the high-end card and chipset is to get it so that everybody knows about the feature then trickle it down the the mid and low end cards. I mean the Sony, HP, etc, media center pcs that are bought in the stores usually have low end vid cards...

help: dvd decrypter and adobe encore

if it's in .iso format, then dvd decrypter shouldn't have any prob burning it. heck it even burns xbox isos, don't see why it shouldn't handle encore.

how to start COMPLETELY over with a hard drive

All that trouble to protect your identity, that too much. I'm more scared of the people that actually handle my credit card numbers when I purchase stuff at a store. There is no such thing as identity protection, someone somewhere has access to your information at any time.

This is the sound of my head exploding........

great parody of that commercial on a show called "Robot Chicken" on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. And the girl who did the commercial is the one voicing the doll that is used for the parody.

    Protecting burned DVDs from scratches

If you're that worried about scratching your dvds, you shouldn't use them. I have found that it is nearly impossible to use any type of optical media (cd/dvd) w/o some type of hairline scratches getting on them. A dvd is more durable than you think so you shouldn't worry that much, but u could...

Do companies like Dell, HP etc still use OEM vid cards clocked slower than retail?

Companies like that usually put "cool and quiet" before performance since the majority of consumers prefer quiet PCs over leaf blowers. And an underclocked video card could be passively cooled or use a smaller, quieter fan
