    Xeon for gaming?

You could go up a little bit... "You'll never use more than 6.40GB in your life" That number seems to ring a bell.

Sick of SSD life questions? Lets squash this rumor.

I agree, that the failure generally has nothing to do with writes, but some people are still worried about it. I think the only reason we have CPUs that operate with such a small failure rates is because of intel's testing mythology. And AMD has to keep just as high of standards to keep up...

    AMD or Intel

If you want to go with Intel, and save money, go with the i3 on a server motherboard. It has ECC support, but no VT support. I initially bought everything around the g540, which is a great dual core processor for the money, it was a very fast dual core with ECC support. Later I bought a...

Sick of SSD life questions? Lets squash this rumor.

We could do something like this. SSD : Controller: Size: Power On Hours: Lifetime Writes: Life Curve Status: SSD Life Left: Trim enabled? (y/n): OS: Is this the OS drive? (y/n): SSD : Kingston hyperX Controller: SF-2281 Size: 120GB Power On Hours: 3974 Lifetime Writes: 2.26TB Life Curve...

Wow, I never realized the drives would last that long! That is crazy.

Sick of SSD life questions? Lets squash this rumor.

I'm sick of seeing "I'm afraid if I put my 'browser cache / virtual memory' on my SSD, it will eat up all my erase cycles!" Lets put an end to this rumor. I have an old Kingston 40gb SSD, it was used in a raid 0 (with no trim), for 1 year and then decommissioned to my wife's computer as a...

Any chance for 120hz monitors with low native resolution?

For those of you who think that more than 60fps/hz is just a waste, have you ever tried it? I play COD Black OPS on the PC. I can definitely tell the difference between 45fps and 60fps. I had an older video card, and was only getting 45fps on some maps. My k/d ratio would fall on those maps...

    Real minimum SSD size

I used a 40gb SSD for a year, then upgraded to a 120gb. The 120 is definitly nice, but you can get by with smaller. I use steam mover to 'move' my games back and forth between the ssd and hd. http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover/

    SSD Data Integrity

Depending upon when you lose power, you can get silent data corruption. If it happens during an erase it corrupts the next write! Data corruption that can happen months after the power loss. http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/users/swanson/papers/DAC2011PowerCut.pdf "6. CONCLUSION The flash memory...

    SSD Data Integrity

There was an article I just read that said they found some major data loss with power loss. Something like a 50% chance in certain instances. I'm going to try and find it.

When is AMD going to release real 8 core chips?

I don't get why people want more cores. I want more MHz and IPC.

Seagate 3TB external vs internal performance?

I have a 3tb Hitachi 5 platter 7200rpm drive and get ~150mbs peak, average around 120mbs. You should be getting much higher than 55mbs. Are you using a usb3 cable? Sounds like it's limited to usb 2.0 speeds. (right around 50mbs)
