    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

I got an XFX NForce 590 SLI board. I *think* it only supports AM2 sockets. I'm reluctant to buy a new fan or chip, as I might as well just buy one of those cheap Fry's combo for $50 CPU+Mobo.... Prolly runs faster than my X2 6000+. I will give that open case a try and post the CPU-Z...

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

Darn it, while in leaving my computer on "Choose Boot Device" the fans started turning fast. I went into BIOS and looked at the temperature. CPU was scorching hot at 75C and while I was looking the computer shut itself off! I used to run this all day long fine....

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

I think the only thing left to do is try and adjust the voltage. Cool'n Quiet is enabled in BIOS. Not sure if it works, so I will give mvbighead suggestion a try and report back. What are the actual voltage supposed to be for this CPU?

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

I used the computer again last night and while the computer was idle from boot it reached in the very high 60 C. The fan was spinning like crazy. However, while it was idle it had gone into power savings mode i.e. shut of the TV. When I accessed it, and checked the HW Monitor, the temperature...

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

There actually is a case fan, I just don't turn it on because of noise. I guess I will have to hook it up, otherwise the CPU fan will just spin up anyhow. Is there a way to find out if the CPU is 65nm or 90nm? http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUSideBySide.aspx?id=548&id=451&id=34...

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

Well, I have bad news. I ran the HW Monitor while watching a movie on my computer. Notice the CPU fan was really really loud, so I looked up the temperature and it was a whopping 77 C on one core, while the other core was 57 C degrees. I stopped the movie, waited and the temperature went...

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

This thing used to auto shut itself off, but so far so good. Didn't know a little thermal paste would make that significance of a difference. Thank you for helping me out (dma0991 and gevorg) and for continued follow up (dma0991)!

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

It looks like my temp is around low 30's C. Maybe the thermal paste just needed some time to even itself out.... I will report back if it goes back up with usage. edit: that is for the core and the systin/cputin and auxtin are in the 50+ C range. Not sure how these all connects....

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

I will install HWMonitor to read the temps (since RealTemp doesn't work on AMD): 1. the fan is definitely working 2. Cool'n Quiet is enabled 3. The heatsink is attached with a clip so it is definitely firm and thight. 4. There are also plenty of holes for the hot air to come out of case...

    Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

I had some random shutdowns previously from too hot temperatures. So on suggestion from here I went out and bought Arctic Silver 5 and applied that by first cleaning it with acetone then applied a rice grain sized. The temperature dropped, but still shows 60-70 C in the BIOS. That seems kind...

    Random Shutdown?

I will try and re-align it, but I already tried once to no avail. Really odd....

    Random Shutdown?

I believe I have t he 65nm, 512KB L2 cache version rated at 62C. My case is an Antec P180, but it shut itself down even when the case was wide open. The only thing I can think of is the CPU needs some new thermal compound, but would the temperature increase that much with old thermal compound...

    Random Shutdown?

My computer randomly shuts down now and I'm not sure why, after I changed the graphics cards. Unfortunately I no longer have the old graphics card to re-install. I noticed the temperature of my CPU go to 72C degrees after shutdown with stock setup, no overclocking. Is that normal? The CPU...

CPU and MCP Temperature Too Hot?

I got this from the motherboard bios setting under "System Monitor" (I think that is what it is called). My bios is phoenix award.... I'm assuming that means hardware reading.

CPU and MCP Temperature Too Hot?

SO I got this kick @ss motherboard, the XFX nForce 780i, and so far very happy with it. However, I noticed that the temperature is about 50-60 Celsius and the motherboard chipset (MCP) is hovering around 70-80 Celsius. The CPU is an E8500 with stock heatsink/fan and the MCP has a big heatsink...
