Okay, so you think it's just going to be a preference issue? The amps in the monitors aren't crap compared to the separate amp or the bookshelfs crap compared to the monitor's drivers etc etc?
Thanks very much for the info guys.
I had a read through that thread you linked to and that helped a lot. Can I check my current thinking with you then?
If I were to get this: http://www.richersounds.com/product/amplifiers-receivers/cambridge-audio/a1-version-3/camb-a1v3-blk

Hi,
Some advice/answers would be much appreciated.
I have an Auzentech Prelude soundcard and am just getting around to buying some decent speakers to go with it.
Part of the reason for me buying the card were the high quality analogue outputs which I wanted to make use of. My intention...
You're not the first person on here to say that. What is the basis for this? I'm looking to build a RAID0 myself in the hope that it will speed up load times for my OS and programs as well as speed up file transfers and unRARing. Is that what you would call 'average use'? Is a RAID0 not...
The time I'm measuring is from when the XP loading screen appears to when I arrive at my desktop. I've downloaded PCMark05 and it's registering 7.55 MB/s for XP startup and 5.08 MB/s for HDD general usage, these numbers stack up fairly well compared to similar drives in the recent WD reviews so...
Seriously. I would really appreciate some advice. What was left of my old system (identical bar the hard drive which can still only run at sata150) has been sold and when I checked it out it loaded windows in about 15 seconds. A 2.5 year old system is trouncing a brand new thousand pound...
Just turn it all off at the plug socket if the noise is a problem. I've had my speakers whine when they were off before now. My Dell 2007wfp is doing it now.
cheers
Hi,
I recently upgraded my system entirely but kept the same hard drive albeit with a clean install of windows. It takes about 40 seconds for Windows to load after post on my e6600 (401x9) p5b-e plus with 2GB DDR6400, 8800gts. I don't run a ton of background processes, only the same as I...
The cost difference argument between the PC and consoles in general is a bizarre one. Everyone here seems to have a PC of some sort, unless they're using magic to post. This is pretty much the case for most people these days, they already have or need a PC. Now if you want to play games you...
Onboard sound uses CPU time and RAM whereas a card will only use RAM. The card will improve game performance. I'm not using my SB live card because onboard is 7.1 and the card is only 5.1. I have a 2.1 speaker system. I'm a moron.
cheers
