it sounds like you didn't install any of the drivers. stick in the cd that came with the mobo and install all the different drivers. you probably have to install the usb 2.0 drivers as well as the lan drivers. (and if you have onboard sound and video you need to install those too). sometimes...

i don't own an athlon 64 yet. i am just trying to understand what it means to have no fsb. I also want to know some memory basics like what is latency, whether ddr2 is compatible with athlon 64 etc etc etc.

thanks you were right my problem was in your list of brainstorms. it turned out that the power switch from the case was shutting down the computer completely after a few seconds. i am using the reset switch as the power and now it works fine. thanks again.
