How To Remove Archived Copy Of Vista?

One more thing. Windows is absurdly large with wayyyyyy too many files and folders!

How To Remove Archived Copy Of Vista?

Yes, I had to tweak his permissions to get it to work...now I know a little more about how the security settings work! Thanks.

How To Remove Archived Copy Of Vista?

Clicking around in the security settings, I am changing the "owner" from the windows installer to the user... I'm guessing that is the first thing I need to do?

How To Remove Archived Copy Of Vista?

No error message, it just doesn't let me delete them. First it asks me to "confirm", which I click "yes" then it says "you need permission to perform this action". I am assuming this has something to do with the security settings in Vista but I have not done much with Windows in many years and...

How To Remove Archived Copy Of Vista?

My son has a 3 y/o Gateway laptop with Vista. Vista became corrupt, but I was able to enter safe mode and after many attempts at troubleshooting and system restore, I initiated the Gateway recovery program. This recovery program essentially copied his C drive to a backup folder and then...

Windows 7: XP with Vista layer on top?

I am no engineer, but as I understand it Vista changed the way the operating system interacts with the hardware. If the hardware vendors do not, or did not, invest sufficient time and testing of new drivers for their existing hardware base, then there will probably be issues. I had problems...

    Vista 64 Random Freeze

Switching to the on-board sound reduced the freezes, but they were still occurring. During this entire time, I was having trouble with my WUSB300N wireless adapter. It would power down even though I had it set not to do so. Out of the blue, I then had a flurry of issues, including BSODs, all...

    Vista 64 Random Freeze

I think my sound card is part of the problem (Audigy2 ZS) - I pulled the sound card and will see if it helps. Onboard sound is no different via optical cable than the Audigy... I have progressed from freezes to BSODs...

    Sound Card For Vista 64

OK, I believe my Audigy2 ZS has been a major source of problems with my new build - I don't think it plays nice with Vista 64. Random freezes and lately BSOD. I pulled the sound card and activated the onboard Realtek HD. Using an optical cable the sound is, at a minimum, as good as the old...

    Sound Card For Vista 64

My new MB has the Realtek HD audio chip and I previously used an Audigy II ZS. I suspect that the new Realtek is not any worse than the 4+ year old Audigy technology? It wouldn't hurt to try it out before dropping another $100+ on a sound card.

    Sound Card For Vista 64

I'm wondering... If I am using the coax (digital) output to my high-end speaker system, does it even matter which sound card I use since there is no digital to analog conversion in this scenario?

    Yet Another Newbie Vista Question...

I want to move the entire "Users" folder to another drive to free up space and simplify backup. Is there anything special that I need to do in order to make this happen? I recall in XP that this required some user action to let windows know where they were, but it has been a long, long time...

    Vista 64 Random Freeze

I have a psu on order, which is something I should have done to begin with. I will give the new drivers a shot and see what happens. Yesterday it only froze once, when the screensaver kicked in. I have seen that happen a couple times, although not consistently. The adventure continues...

    Sound Card For Vista 64

This question may belong in a hardware forum, but I am sure this is probably a reasonable question for the Operating System forum. I am looking at a SB Titanium and Asus Xonar DX, both PCI-E cards. I do some gaming, but mainly listen to music on a set of Logitech Z-5500 (nice) speakers...

    Vista 64 Random Freeze

Well... The two most "senior" components in my system are the psu and the dvd/rw. I am building a system for my sister (actually my old system in a different case) and will need a psu for hers, so I might as well go get something a little better for mine instead. My old system ran fine with...
