do you perhaps have a pop-up blocker enabled? the new topic and the help button both open new windows i can't really give you the link to new topic because it is a javascript just try to disable your pop-up blocker or put anandtech.com on the safe list
ok i'm kinda familiar with HiJackThis...
check to make sure the IDE cable isn't reversed(most likely cause this has happened to me before) make sure the red stripe is on the same side as it is on the master if the master is working properly
check your jumper settings
in CMOS setup>standard setup make sure IDE0 slave is set to auto
