ok problem again, i finally get the bios to recognize hdd, when i go to install window media center, and it goes to format hdd it takes too long and 0% has been formatted, I go to quick format and it says it could not format the hdd. My hdd sure makes a lot of noise especially a high pitch sound.
ok i finally got it to work. had to find an old floppy and make a boot from mobo cd. thanks for all your guys help and advice. now to installing my drivers.
i ordered another seagate ST3300831AS was chatting with a friend of mine and he has the same set up and this one worked great. my hdd is the first sata that came out according to the seagate website. tried using the floppy boot to install but it still says could not detect hard disk.
ok now i am confused, i took the drive out and put it back in and now it detects it as master sata. so i saved and exited to try and install os and then it says something is wrong. when it asked to create partition which one should i choose
yes plugged into the black ones and does not recognize on boot everything else is but not hdd. tried installing media center but cant because no hdd detected. bios nvraid has been disabled. everything in ide config enabled.
