What S775 motherboard should I get?

    Shameless bump.

Intel P45 Chipset Overclocking & My Experience

Ahem, it is well-known that quad-cores rarely overclock as well as their dual-core counterparts. I suspect OP's CPU just cannot simply handle 3.7Ghz without issues. If anything P45 should be more tolerant to higher FSB speeds and voltage boosts then P35. It is all thanks to its smaller fab...

What S775 motherboard should I get?

Expect, I have B3 Q6600 and it runs kinda toasty at 2.93Ghz. I could up to 3.0Ghz (333x9) and still be within specs for P35/P45. ;)

What S775 motherboard should I get?

Nope, they will not cover parts that were damaged by electrical-related causes. :( From DFI's warranty page

What S775 motherboard should I get?

Well an recent mishap has left my board with a dead 4x PCIe slot and Highpoint 4x PCIe SATA RAID controller. Stupid, rogue screw and your short. Anyway, I am in the market for a new Socket 775 board. The conditions are that it needs a PCIe 4x slot or greater for my RMA replacement of...

    Question 975x vs P35

Again, Penyrn-based units are only significantly faster in areas were SSE matters. The higher-end model's larger L2 cache helps out a little bit. Penyrn's biggest perk is still being build on 45nm process. Conroe-based unit user isn't missing much and should hold out for Nehalem and its siblings.

    Should I ditch my 975x m/b?

ROFL, please stop trolling. 975X is quite capable of 1333Mhz FSB if you feed it a little juice. Granted, that it can't do much more without pumping more volts into it. My DFI 975X can go up to 430x4=1720Mhz. From a support standpoint, I can understand why no motherboard manufacturer's 975X...

    Vista Surround Sound Fix

Odd, I get surround audio (5.1 channels) in Vista 64 with my Audigy 2ZS + latest drivers. Surround audio works in any game that can support 5.1 audio. Granted that it is purely software not hardware accelerated. It is no big deal thanks to modern, multi-core CPUs. The overhead is like 15% for...

    Question 975x vs P35

975X is fine enough, unless you want to do some signficant overclocking. P965 and P35 are far better at overclocking. Penyrns aren't that huge of a leap over Conroe. They just build on a 45nm, have some SSE refinements and SSE4. IMHO, there is really no point to get a P35/X38 board if...

    Should I ditch my 975x m/b?

I would hold onto that 975X board and wait until Nehalem. The 975x can unoffically operate a Penyrn-based chip, but you have to overclock the FSB to 333mhz in order run the said chip at full speed.

    E6750 on DFI Infinity 975X/G?

You can "unoffically" use a 1333Mhz chip on a 975X board. It requires you to overclock the to FSB in order to the chip at full speed. The BIOS will most likely not recongize the chip and ID it as "Unknown CPU at x Mhz".

JOIN THE BOYCOTT FOR BATTLEFIELD 2142!

Here is an acutal reason to boycott this game. This is from a disclamer card that comes with the game. 100% Pure BS, especially when you paid for the damm game. Ether make it free (ad) or have retail verison remove the ad nonsense.

What model number is BIOS Chip for DFI Inf. 975X

A week ago I had sent my mis-flashed BIOS chip to DFI for re-programing, but it has not return yet. I was trying to get another unit from badflash, but I forgot to write down the exact model number for BIOS chip. I hope another 975X/G user can identify it for me. :)

    Dual core S754???

AMD is going to have come out with a dual-core Turion in order to somewhat compete against the Yohan. It'll do well performance-wise, but the Yohan will own it in power consumption department.

    Intel 65nm chips in hand - now shipping - Pentium D 9xx

Presters and Cedar Mills are the last of the P4 dyansty. If anything they are going to be what the Prescotts should have been in the first place. Yohan and Merom/Conroe/Woodcrest are the future for Intel. I'm sure Presters will rock at media encoding, but X2s will still have the edge in gaming...
