Reasons You Stopped Going To Bars/Clubs?

I still go, but to select bars. I prefer quieter places, I guess pubs would be a more accurate term. Usually when we go, we go for dinner and stay after for drinks. Though I will say I've had some really good times at bars. Like loud music and tons of people. I think those days are behind...

    Anyone have a Nielsen box?

My parents (and thus I) did it for a while. When we did we used little booklets, it was long before the fancy boxes. I'd like to think my dad and I were responsible for more sci-fi since all we watched was Sci-Fi. It was just before SG-Atlantis, BSG and such. I'm not sure I would do it again...

How much do you drink when you're the designated driver?

I usually go out in the city, and either walk or take public transit. So usually no DD. On the rare occasions I am DD, I sometimes have 1 beer when we get there if we will be there for more than 4-6 hours, otherwise nothing but water, juice and tea.

My PC crashed. Lost data. Who in NSA can i contact to get a backup copy?

Wait, so now they offer free field tech support calls? The NSA cares about us that much? I <3 my government!

Comcast secretly turning your router into free public wifi?

Can anyone attest to how well these work? Comcast's site says their compatible, but are they going to create issues for me for using it over their modem? I have had the modem free for the past year, and I didn't worry about it since I figured I would be canceling my service after this year...

    Attention ATOT Bostonians

Both Dorchester and JP vary greatly depending on the area. Remember that Dorchester is basically the size of the rest of Boston. Dorchester has some really bad areas, and some really nice areas. JP is similar (though the bad aren't as bad as some areas in Dorchester). Check out crime maps of...

Vacation - Where are you going?

My parents have always used an agent, and I've gotten in the practice of using the same one. She finds deals that are amazing. What my parents do is they keep her informed of their vacations, and their list of places they want to travel, and when she finds stuff meeting that criteria, she...

Because then you get the price of Amazon, and have the item in your hand that day.

You must have driven almost exclusively on Rt 3. That is the only place that happens, except for a couple exits on the northbound Expressway. It happens because the on ramps are so short. It's not possible on some of the ramps to safely hit 75-80 mph on the on ramp, thus why people slow. And...

    Attention ATOT Bostonians

Has nothing to do with MIT. It has everything to do with a city not setup in the least for cyclists and people (both drivers and cyclists) being unaware of laws. Most notably that it is illegal for cyclists to run red lights, and perfectly legal for cyclists to take up the entire lane (despite...

Join a membership type store like Costco for groceries?

I find that I need to be careful what I buy where. My general rule of thumb is non-branded, not commonly couponed products only at BJs. So basically rice, flour, meats (sometimes), vegetables, beans, etc. Notable exceptions to this rule are olive oil, which always seems to be cheaper at BJs...

I second Bova's. One of my favorite places in the North End. To get there: go down Hanover St, turn down Prince St on the side of St Leonards (the church). Walk down a block. Enjoy delicious pastries/sandwiches/breads.

    Attention ATOT Bostonians

If you go to the North End to eat, I suggest Ricardos or Artu. Both are off of Hanover St (the main st through the North End), but you can find them easy enough on Google maps. If you go to the MFA, also check out the Isabel Gardner museum behind it. You have to walk a few hundred feet...

Need new sunglasses, don't want to spend a ton of $

I find that if you get safety glasses that are polarized, it's way cheaper than buying sunglasses. And they wrap all the way around your eyes. My current pair I got free at work, but you can buy similar ones for about $20-$25 at places like Tractor Supply or maybe even Home Depot. Amazon has...
