hd 7950 3gb review.. amd beats fermi to a pulp

Err, only reason? I don't think there's any particular reason to think they're positioned by performance. There may not have been much thought given to the spacing beyond making it look pretty, it's just a slide. I mean, the Pitcairns are placed well below the 6900s, when from leaked specs and...

[techeye] High end kepler -- 2013?

I think Concillian points to the greater problem: a proprietary standard is self-defeating, as it cannot be relied upon for anything essential when it's guaranteed only a portion of the user base will be able to turn it on.

Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning(Released on February 7th)

I was impressed by the art. Hi-res? Not at all. But beautiful, vibrant? Yes. My reservation is the dialogue, most of which put me to sleep. I too began skipping through them pretty quickly, the majority of dialogues I saw in the demo were just awful. The game throws lore at the screen without...

    HD 7950 OC listed @ $469 (Asus DC2/II)

Still waiting to see official benchmarking word from sites like this one, but I tend to agree. Still, if you're willing to go with the reference cooler (or whatever those cheap ones are called - technically it's not supposed to have a reference one, right?) I suppose you can save yourself $80...

Still no downloadable whql 7970 drivers

Ah. I'd figured profiles must be what you were referring to by "new CCC 12 features" - they were certainly the major difference I noticed when going to the 12.1 preview. :)

Still no downloadable whql 7970 drivers

Wait, you're saying 7970 owners still don't have application profiles? That sucks.

I believe the rumor is $450 for the 3GB, with a ~$400 1.5 GB 7950 launching in March.

Do 'retina' displays eliminate the need for AA?

I'm no expert, but I would imagine there'd still be some benefit. As I understand it, the basic problem that AA is there to correct, is that engines generally render each pixel as occupied by one object (or side of an object) only. Hence frequent aliasing or other problems being apparent with...

New Asus 6970, black screen 4 beeps - help

As Kenmitch says, if you don't even see the POST, it's something more basic than drivers. That's not to say the drivers necessarily are a-okay. But it's not relying on Windows or its drivers during POST.

    7970 Driver comparison 11.12-12.2

Doesn't look to me like you're missing anything. I guess there was a reason they said not to use 12.2 with 7900s. :) I wonder just how long GCN and VLIW drivers will continue to be separate. Or are unified VLIW+GCN drivers simply never in the cards?

    Typical custom board timelines?

Hi folks, I haven't followed custom board development in the past, but the positive comments about custom boards & coolers from some companies have me interested. So I was wondering: how long does it tend to take before custom PCBs & coolers start to show up? Based on the last few series from...

    Any update on the 7870?

Here's hoping Pitcairn gets a paper launch ahead of availability. I'd rather not be deciding whether to buy while they're going on sale. :)

Also waiting for Pitcairn. Or at least the 7950.
