I read that article and it seemed a bit.. um.. disingenious.
They said that they compared 4 cards
GTX280
GTX260
9800gx2
9800gtx
But then they only listed results for
GTX280 - blue line
GTX260 - sandy brown line
9800gtx - red line
9800gx2 .... ?????? No result listed...
Every review that I have seen has placed the 9800gx2 above the gtx280.
I am a gamer. I am using a X48 board and generally don't care to SLI. I have the 9800gx2 (which is SLI on one card) but I can and will upgrade to a single GTX-280 if there is a performance increase in Age of Conan...
Hey Folks... some updates.
#1 - As noted on another thread, when I was re-packing up the box, I found a capacitor/diode laying in the bottom of the box. It looked like it had never been soldered on.
And - after reading the various threads here about quad vs dual, knowing that my primary...
I went ahead and took the Zalman off, cleaned everything up, reseated it (just in case something had been incorrect before)
As to the amount of AS5 (artic silver ) - Last time I used a bit much I think. That being said - core temps still seem to get up there (60 or so using real temp). My...
Last night, I took the board back out, reset the heat sink and for the first time - put the computer vertical (it's been laying on it's side while I've been building it).
Immediately, a diaode of some kind - fell off or got unstuck.
For the life of me, I can't figure out where it goes -...
Thanks to the folks who helped out on this thread. ( I'm a newb, but learning)

I've got a few more questions, but the important one right now is...
After leaving prime95 running, with cpuz and realtemp/coretemp running for 5...

Image shows that I use Core Temp. Took that at 1 mintue in on prime95
Now - somebody said that I don't have the 9700 on right. With the mobo I have, you have to screw the S type clip onto the mounting bracket - you can't screw the...
Thanks all.
I purchased 4x1gb sticks of ballistix 1066 (from frys) - That worked just great. System is up and running - OC'd from 2.66 to 3.0 (no issues so far).
About the PSU - If my budget for a new PSU was in the $250 range, what would you suggest?
Hello.
Board - Gigabyte x48-DQ6
CPU - q9450 (oc'd to 3.0ghz)
Memory - Ballistix 4x1gb ddr2 1066
While idling, temps range 52 - 55 across all cores.
10 minutes - 10 hours into prime95, temps range 69-70 across all cores.
Is that too high?
Unfortunately, I don't have a second PSU/CPU.
That being said: I tore the "new" mobo/cpu/ram out (left them all still attached) of my case - put my old mobo/cpu/ram back in - booted up without a problem.
Old Rig info:
I am using an 18month old
700w PSU by FSP (link to newegg)...
I purchased this board today with a q9450 and 2x2gb Patriot DDR2 1066 (pc6500) memory.
Unfortunatly - I don't know whether the board is bad or the memory.
Once everything is in - board powers up nice but it won't post. It just goes into a restart cycle almost immediately. I'm not even...
