I have two WD Raptors on the ICH5-R in RAID which is operating normally. I have a 40 Gig Maxtor installed on the native IDE connector and the BIOS refuses to recognize it. Doesn't matter if the drive jumper is set to Cable Select or Master, the drive goes un-recognized.

Put together a P-4 3.0C and an Abit IC7-G Mobo and it sucks. Big time.

Abit IC7-G MaxII with ver. 16 BIOS
Paired OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 / 500mhz / Gold Edition / Dual Channel 256MB Sticks populating all 4 slots=1GB
Maxtor 40MB...
The b1014 "Overclocker's BIOS" gives the best performance of any of the MSI Pro2-A BIOS i have tried(and i have tried 'em all)
