In search of a non-squishy keyboard

Damn.... that long? Are you certain it's still going to be produced at all? It's starting to smell a bit vaporous, if you know what I mean. If you haven't already, I'll do the honors sometime tomorrow.

    DVI-I/DVI-A cables for CRT monitors?

halcyon: I actually wanted to get one from there, but they don't seem to have any DVI-I or DVI-A cables. DVI-D, no matter the quality, just doesn't work here. Had these monitors supported it, I'd probably be on BNC already (I have one cable, and unlike DVI-I you can actually pick them up...

In search of a non-squishy keyboard

Kickass. I guess I'll just have to wait for them to get their stuff back together... the ETA on the backlog ending at ergocube is "toward the end of 2004" but it appears they've been out for some time. Can't even find any used. Anyone else have other models to suggest? I'd really like to...

    DVI-I/DVI-A cables for CRT monitors?

I've asked a friend and gotten a recommendation for cablestogo.com, really for anything they carry. After doing some more poking on the site I found information about the construnction of their cables, something lacking everywhere else I looked besides bluejeanscable.com (or, rather, AV Link...

    DVI-I/DVI-A cables for CRT monitors?

I just got my hands on a pair of IBM C220p monitors. I also happened to have a nice GeForce 6800GT dual DVI video card on hand. The monitors each came with a DVI-I->VGA cable, and each have a DVI-I (analog) and a VGA port. I'm under the impression that analog DVI-I is to be a replacement of...

In search of a non-squishy keyboard

I'm one of those rare funky individuals that likes both the older Buckling Spring keyboards (like the IBM Model M) and the split layout of ergonomic keyboards (especially if adjustable.) However, I've beeh having a hell of a time finding any buckling spring keyboards nowadays. In fact...

    Drives spinup for no reason

it could also be an antivirus app checking bootable volumes for boot virii just in case, or any kind of funky, poorly-thought-out code. Your guess is as good as mine. :)

    Thin Client for Linux

What do you mean, exactly? If you're asking about a distribution for thin clients, http://www.linuxfromscratch.org can be good for custom jobs. Knoppix can be handy for diskless stations that have decent RAM and a CD drive, and there are countless distributions aimed at being used for...

    linux corporate email server

There are actually a few Exchange servers for Linux, none of which are free though... SuSE has one that comes to mind (should be interesting to watch on account of the acquisition by Novell) and there's a few others as well. There are also some web-based groupware setups, the most robust of...

    email client launches repeatedly

No idea what's causing it, but you might want to simply leave an email client open. It'll work best if it's a minimalist client, like Pegasus Mail (hit Google) or Thunderbird (the standalone mail portion of mozilla, technically in beta but working very, very well for me.) If you're doing the...

    Drives spinup for no reason

It's hard to say exactly what the OS is doing, but it's probably syncing the disks in order to unmount them. The only way to stop it is to unmount the drives beforehand, which will probably result in them being spun up then. (though the CD you can simply eject.) This is a feature, not a bug...

    Automated web-page update monitoring?

I have a lot of things on this intarweb thingy that I need to keep checking on periodically, like the web pages for various applications that don't have a built-in update detection feature, comics that update on an irregular schedule, things like that. Anyone know of a good service that will do...

    Mac's ResEdit?

What you want to do is alter the file type and creator codes to and from those of the intended file format and application in question. I believe there's a menu option in ResEdit for File Info, this is one way to make these changes... there are other utilities out there as well that will do...
