My computer works fine except when I am reading something(ie installing software or a game) from the cd or burning a cd. When I do either of these two things, my computer sometimes restarts in the middle of the burn/install or sometimes gives me crc errors. I have little clue as to why this...

Umm... I don't know about a lot of people have lots of sensitive data(ie credit card #s, passwords to various things) stored on their computer, which you don't want to give to other people. I would not recommend selling your drive because it just isnt worth the risk.
