AMD hot fix just boosted my sandy in cinebench

The patch "works" for my Intel CPU (i7-2670QM). Don't bother using this on a non BD CPU. Geekbench benchmark before patch - 8900~ Geekbench benchmark after patch - 7900~ Aida64 before patch (CPU benchmarks) - CPU Queen 33953 Photoworxx 49096 CPU ZLib 191.4 MB/s ...And so on...

i7 2760QM or i7 2640M for business and home use?

Sure... If there will be a need for a quad core CPU down the line, then get one. Computers in general have reached a very good price to performance ratio, except if it's an Apple (not an Apple hater, I'm typing on a Mac Mini 2011 right now). A quad core laptop purchase today will make your...

Pics or it didn't happen. I tried using this on an i7-2670QM laptop and it didn't work.

    so return the 960t?

Ahh, but how would they know you did? The returns rep wouldn't be all "hmm... you overclocked this, didn't you?" by looking at the pins, or even plug it quick and see if it boots to the OS.

    Replace 940BE with Zosma?

If 960T unlocks to 5 or 6 cores, keep it. If it doesn't, return.

    Future of AM3+

I currently use one SSD for the Dell XPS i7 laptop internally, and bought a drive caddy for either the 2nd SSD or a huge HDD for storage. The machine is used for editing and rendering video, so the CPU is constantly stressed out to 100%. The SSD helps fast transfers to other computers at...

    Future of AM3+

I bought the SSDs without knowing about the disabled RAID in current gen Dell XPS laptops. I have to turn to my desktop to take advantage of the speed. Since Intel is changing their socket of choice to X79 right now, and then update to Ivy Bridge again later next year, I'll wait until next year...

    Future of AM3+

I don't plan to buy a BD CPU, and just tuck in the quad core Phenom II. I might buy the 960T that has a chance to unlock to x6 cores. Piledriver is compatible with AM3+ from what I know. Nope, 15-20 seconds of boot time isn't fast enough for me... :). Still, I will have many practical uses...

    Future of AM3+

I'm about to buy an AM3+ motherboard so I can run 2 256GB Crucial M4 SSDs in RAID 0. I plan to ditch desktops completely, but my Dell XPS i7 quad core has RAID support stupidly disabled by the manufacturer. I've heard that AMD no longer plans to compete with Intel directly, but I feel that is...

    Celeron i3-G530: Overclock?

I have not seen an A6-3400M laptop this cheap. Perhaps it's an A4-3300M or lower? If it's indeed an A6-3400M, then I will want a link on that. ;)

[Softpedia] AMD Not Competing with Intel Anymore, Goes Mobile

AMD's demise in the desktop front means Intel can and will build a monopoly in it. Bad news for all. Llano is quite successful so I at least hope they can still compete well in the laptop department. The desktop industry is overall shrinking, including myself who use a desktop less and...

core i3 530 or AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black

I know all of that. The unlock is a gamble, which is the real deal breaker between a i3 530 and 555. I'm just fetching in that an x4 555 performs better than i3 530 with or without the overclock.

core i3 530 or AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black

I happen to have an unlocked x4 555 as well as an i5 530, and there is no way an i3 530 beats it in half of AT's benchmarks. Again, an unlocked x4 555 performs similarly to a Phenom II x4 965 and 955 (both ahead of i5 530 in many of AT's benchmarks) seeing that the only difference with the three...

core i3 530 or AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black

FYI, if you successfully unlock a Phenom II 555 to a quad core, it scores noticeably higher than an i5 530 in benchmarks (4k vs 2.7k in Passmark). An unlocked x4 555 (B55) is between Phenom II x4 965 and 955 in performance. Upgrading to an i5 750 is a fine choice, but your computing habits...

Intel mobile processors with vPro + KVM?

Hi anandtech, I am having trouble finding out which intel processors support vPro and KVM on laptops. From what I've gathered, to use KVM, the laptop must support integrated graphics and vPro. I am looking to buy a Sandy Bridge i5 or i7 laptop very soon. I know very little about...
