well me and my two friends tried for 6 hours trying to get it to work, and we made sure everything was plugged in right, but still nothing

Can anyone help me figure something out here, i bought a new motherboard and processor, and when i put it together and get it hooked up, it will turn on but that's all it will do, my monitor doesnt turn on, if i take something out like the ram, i cant even get a error sound from the motherboard...
